I've had a few Deepers in the past and have stuck with the Chirp+2 as I have a better sonar on my main bboat . . .occasionally use it on my RM 750 for small waters but mainly use it on rivers on my spopper rod to get a quick scan of the topography in new swims etc.. .def needs a range extender however you use it to ensure consistent feedback (strengthens the signal) - have also used it on my 13' SPM rod for waters that don't allow boats and you can cast it a fair distance (depending on your casting ability etc)

I rarely if ever use it with my phone - have a small 8" dedicated tablet that makes life a lot easier . . .

I don't like using it on my phone, much prefer a tablet for ease/size of buttons, seeing features without having to stare intently at small things.

Guess it's what your used to.

I bought the Chirp+ 3 and the range extender. I really like the 3d mapping - especially on the deeper waters. The app is easy to use. I have only used it on a phone, but I guess it is even better on a tablet. So far the phone is good enough for me. I have had a few connectivity issues when using the Deeper with a bait boat. Could be caused by the way the Deeper is mounted on the boat. Not a major problem but annoying when it happens.

Im looking to upgrade to a deeper as my current cheap Chinese castanets sonar is coming to the end of its life

I don't use boats so I'm interested in how well it casts?

Is the V3 significantly better than V2?

How user friendly is the app? Is it better to have it on a small tablet rather than phone screen?

I'd probably be looking at picking one up second hand rather than pay full price

Cheers
