Updated, but the old one might show as it could be cached.
On a computer, Ctrl-F5 should force a refresh

In reply to Post #20 Not on server.
Jon, maybe you'd like to suggest an image rather than me being easily lead by Martin

In reply to Post #20 His first name was Jonathan, which I think was the source of the original mix up.

In reply to Post #15 Alright, alright.. 'I was very fond of my random avatar, the nipper in his bright blue coat.
And I use the word 'nipper' as people of my age tend to - meaning a 'young man under 25 years old', not 'a child'. 😀😉

In reply to Post #12 I was very fond of the nipper in his bright blue coat. We coexisted happily for over 10 years, until some humourless mod who I'd annoyed removed it.
I need a photo of him 23 years later, preferably wearing a nice brightly coloured coat or jumper.

My attitude has greatly improved with age and also with a change of work, from high pressure job of 30 odd years to a job I genuinely enjoy, I sleep through the night and am so much happier. I missed my kids growing up to consumed in a career and earning more and more - luckily I got off the hamster wheel.
I don’t have more time to fish, still about the same, but I enjoy it so much more. The thing for me is I no longer see others spoiling my enjoyment, they may stop it momentarily but I will go back another day, or move swims or just go home. I have no wounds to lick from fishing as there are so many more important things to do.
I’m about a stone over what I’d like to be, but run regularly and whilst yes I have aged and had what I consider a hard life personally I smile so much more that I ever did in my younger fishing days. I weigh less fish, photograph even fewer and have really squared the fishing circle. Am genuinely happy when someone else catches - not jealous- my day will come. I LOVE tales of tenacity and bounty hunting, but no longer have the commitment needed or want for the sacrifice it brings.
Get wound up (you will have seen) on some subjects but that’s just my tolerance levels and age given the lessons learnt, but unlike some aggressive posters I hope I never come across as I’m right you’re wrong, I think my opinion is valid, but I have no desire to debate and try and change people minds. I love the posters on here that bring genuine insight especially on their specialist subjects - I don’t so much like those who are so called experts in everything.
Fishing captures (!) your life story like no other thing, you have photos of pretty much every month of every year - behind those pictures are the real stories, what was the weather, the row to get out the house, the car breakdown or the day you snapped your rod.
Growing old suits me - being tense and anxious certainly didn’t - and whilst I would love my black hair back (it’s grey now) - my 20 year old body - I like my smile today. I now get invited to more funerals than social fishing trips - so growing old ungraciously should be celebrated by all.

40 odd years later both from Kent and about 12 miles between the lakes

Best one was Jon - who accidentally ended up with a kids profile pic with a bright blue (I think) coat. He kept that profile pic for years.
My profile pic is France 2008 I think.
this was my original one, from the Ebro 2001

In the near future my carp fishing will be limited
But I’m quite excited to know that I want to start to get back into my river fishing for barbel and chub something I haven’t done in 20+ years 😀
