certain dyes were banned from the food industry and are not permitted in the feed chain,.
you can still buy them but from what I've found, cost around £20 -30 for 50g.
Still used in the USA

(3) For the purposes of paragraph (2) above, a “specified permitted colour” shall be any permitted colour other than—

(a)E 123 Amaranth;
(b)E 127 Erythrosine;
c)E 128 Red 2G;
(d)E 154 Brown FK;
(e)E 160b Annatto, bixin, norbixin;
(f)E 161g Canthaxanthin;
(g)E 173 Aluminium,
(h)E 180 Litholrubine BK.

And a group of colours known as 'The Southampton Six' which are have been voluntarily phased out or are in reduced use because they can cause hyper activity in children.
Preema and others contain thee a but are also bulked out with salt.

E102 (Tartrazine): A yellow dye found in items like sweets and fizzy drinks.
E104 (Quinoline Yellow): A greenish-yellow dye.
E110 (Sunset Yellow FCF): A yellow-orange dye.
E122 (Carmoisine): A red-maroon dye.
E124 (Ponceau 4R): A red dye.
E129 (Allura Red AC): An orange-red dye.

The original egg yolk yellow dye that was widespread in the food (and I'm guessing bait) industry was banned in around 2013/14 due to a reclassification on E numbers

Plenty of substitutes but nothing that got anywhere near the original.

You can try the Preema food dyes - their egg yellow is really nice.

Can pick it up from amazon too - not too expensive.

Slightly off topic but does anybody do a egg yolk yellow bait dye these days?

May have something to do with the dyes in feed baits being outlawed by eu regulations these days I guess

Used to do really well on the rivers years ago using Nash Baits 20mm shelflife scopex boilies. Been searching around but can't seem to find scopex boilies in orange. They all seem to be on yellow birdfood mixes. Anyone help?
