Braid of course is the ideal solution - however most venues don't allow it! Decent high diameter fluro still does a good job . . .IME!

None of that stops the line stretching. With 60 yards of line out the fish is potentially 6 yards into the snags with nothing you can do to stop it. That’s not safe fishing in my book, braid fixes this.

Also assume the OP is fishing bow string tight lines / heavy drop off leads / can put his hand on the rod from a prone position to pick it up without delay / walks backwards the moment the rod is off the buzzer and in contact etc . . .

Fishing to snags at that range you have to be using braid, even decent fluoro mainlines have 10% stretch.
I only snag fish at closer range. A fish gets in, you get cut off and that’s a lot of line in the water. Worse still the fish is tethered and you are too far away to see what’s going on.

Def ditch the mono for a decent dia fluro mainline . . .stretched mono could be the difference between a landed/lost fish even with the drag locked up

100 yards a fair distance, yep I’d certainly suggest braid and perhaps 12 foot rods would be better in pick up speed and likely better at controlling the carp.

It's branches that have fallen into islands maybe 12-14 wraps.
Up to high 40's, but they also have some cats around 80lb
I've been fishing mono & I've been fishing a good way off the snags, so not lost anything yet.
Just, looking to fish closer as I see the fish around them all the time.

Probably fast action to progressive as you have to be quick when snag fishing
What type of snags and is this close in
What size carp ?
Are you using braid or mono ?
If you are getting snagged every time then perhaps you are fishing too close.

I've been using sonik insurgents for my snag fishing, they're very middle of the road when it comes to their action, and it got me wondering what action do people consider to be the best for snag fishing.
Fast actions you're more at risk of pulling the hook, but you have faster line pick-up & a longer lever to poke around obstructions, with slower actions being the exact opposite.
What actions/rods do you guys think?

Tackle
