In reply to Post #1 I've used the Daiwa Ninja reels caught carp up to 28lb on them when tench fishing
Smashing reels for the money

In reply to Post #1 I use Shimano 4000 GT-RD fighting drag reels.
They have bigger than average 4000 spools so will happily cope with 12lb line.
They deal with big barbel too.
The Fighting drag makes them more versatile than Baitrunners.
Ano (but bigger) alternative would be the Okuma 6000 inc.

Moved to other species
Personally I use a 4000 sized reel on my distance float and feeder rods, but its not in your price bracket so I can't suggest it. I also prefer to still have the ability to have a bait runner.
A bigger reel would be overkill on my feeder rods.

In reply to Post #1 Something circa 6000 size
Doesn't fit your budget, but I use 6000RA bait runners for tench/barbel fishing

Can anyone kindly recommend a reel for tench fishing....
Both main syndicates have some good sized tench, and I want to have a dabble every now and then...
I dont want nothing mega expensive, was hoping to get a reel for circa £60...
Ideally I would like a spare spool , and will either be feeder fishing or using a Polaris float...I want the reel for both aspects...
I do like the Diawa Ninja reel, but I'm open to any recommendations
