Think I'll stick to an Analogue bait boat on a stick. One less thing to charge and worry about..

Contains surface spread of flame . . .I'd rather use one than not . . .have several for varying sized batteries . . .and always charge 'em under observation

@bmthman, it gets so boring.
I'm quite capable of spodding. Give me a choice of a bait boat user either side of me or 2 people hitting 30 wraps with a 1lb spod for 15 minutes each I'll take the bait boat every time.
You won't see me saying spodding should be banned though, better more positive things to do with the energy. Each to their own

I bought from a dealer from ebay in Germany. He has obviously sold - knowingly or not I dont know - hundreds of these fake chargers.
Only after my "event" when I asked someone who is more of an expert in this he said you have to watch out for the hologram sticker on the underside of the imax B6 charger under which there is a serial number.
I now bought from a airplane model dealer who has decades of experience. The not so funny thing is that either of the very well proven battery and charger I now bought as replacements from this dealer were not more expensive than the fake ones!
Being in the model airplane trade where so many batteries are used he advised the use of one of the battery bags from reliable sources for transport. And of course to never ever charge any batteries without supervision!
Please take care. It is not over exaggerating. It could have been an extremely costly mistake both for my health and my house!

Maybe as anglers we should rely less (not totally) on technology then we wouldn't need all these gizmos and the problems they bring?

Unknowingly... they know what there selling. Buy cheap you take a risk. I've had electrical items from Amazon that have been faulty. They don't even want them back. They refund with no quibble. They no the issues. Amazon are like the car boot other E commerce world..

Yep a minefield, Amazon among many large retailers have been unknowingly selling fake versions for years, unfortunately supply chain is not immune to it.
The battery bags can be hit and miss do your research.

Within reason, yes.
Marruo, why did you buy that charger, was it cheaper than buying from a trusted source, or was it from a trusted source?
I watched a youtube vid the other day, some chap buying fake DeWalt but from some of the biggest online U.K retailers who themselves didn't know thet were fake.
With something like batts it's worth paying the extra for a legit charger. Naturally batts may get damaged or go faulty with a legit charger too.

Always use battery bags . . .at least this way any probs are relatively controlled
