12lb will be fine. But yes. Doubling it up will double the breaking strain as it were..

Hi , i'm prob having a blonde moment but when using the doubled braid loop , which i tie myself, and then connect to a esp ronnie clip does that mean because its doubled the bs of the braid section is doubled ? The reason i ask is that i want to use smaller size hooks ie size 8 and 10s and the only way i can get the doubled braid loop through the eye is to use a smaller bs braid ie 12lb , i just worry that im compromising the breaking strain by going lower but if it means that doubling it doubles the bs i'd be confident using a thinner braid
