In reply to Post #8 Love the QDs since I went from the traditional baitrunner type Infinity’s, no messing around turning the spool adjuster round and round which is a pain, sounds like I need some mods.

In reply to Post #1 Never understood the need for super quick drag - it might cost you that dream fish in tight situations. But each to their own.
Don't worry about the gap.
I have the 10 year old Ci4 xtbs (fantastic reels) with their reducers and as much as I try i can't close the gap, but it makes no difference as the line just lays across the gap.
I put sellotape over and around but why bother.

In reply to Post #1 Yeah remove the grease felt washers out the top of the spool and fit carbon washers or ice washers in their place that will speed the quick drag up .The gap on the spool reducers will close up once line has been put on them just push them together as much you as you can before spooling up

In reply to Post #5 Interesting about the drag then, sounds like I do need some washers. I notice there are PTFE and carbon, anybody have any experience with either materials?
Cant seem to get them to click together. Just finished spooling mine up now with the 4500 spacers on and used 15lb ESP, line lay looks cracking, not over shotted them either
Nice one

In reply to Post #1 I fitted carbon washers on mine which helps reduce the number of turns for the drag. Supposed to also make the drag smoother but I fitted the washers before taking them on the bank so I can’t confirm or deny this
As already mentioned the spool reducers do click together and work fine.
I also use 15lb mono on mine without issue

Last week I got and used some 5500 XTC for the first time this weekend, so I believe the same but different. Here's where I am with them -
1. The QD is too quick. Definitely quarter turn from locked to nearly free so unless the XTD clutch is different based on my early experience I'd say 3 full turns doesn't sound right. The clutch is nice and smooth though.
2. I was casting 17lb xline with 4oz leads nearly 100m (with 3.25 xtractors). This surprised me a lot but appreciate this is all down to my casting talent and nothing to do with the rod or reel 😂😂. Retrieve was quick, smooth and line lay is very good
3. Reducers need a good push until they 'click' in place. After messing around with them I just used backing instead.
My first impressions are very positive and I'm already considering swapping my old emblems for 14000.

In reply to Post #1 I used to use 0.37 Daiwa Sensor (15lb stated) on my medium longcast xta’s, which had a 5500 spool and it was fine. Can’t answer any of your other queries though, sorry.

So I have bought these for my 2 rod carp set up, pending performance might put them on my barbel rods and ditch the 10,000 baitrunners due to lack of cranking power. I have a couple of questions, can anybody can help?
The quick drag don’t seem so quick, I have some Power Aero XTAs and the spool is free to tight in a 1/4 of a turn, these seem to take about 3 full turns, am I missing something?
The spool reducers don’t seem to fit, theres a gap, is this correct?
I am thinking about filling them up with 15lb line, prefer this strength, will they take this well, anybody else got 15 on them, happy?
