Forgot, if you want a picture of the Tolsons reliability contact Joe Jacobs of Baitboat Solutions, he used to hire out quite a few RT4s but swapped to Tolson a fair while back, he's really helpful.

If you're going to be fishing big range with big chop have a nosey at the Anatec Catamaran, it's a very big boat but designed for those conditions, and very easy to work on yourself, though due to size not for everybody

7I used to put yellow high viz reflective material on the back and orange on the front for distance use.

I wouldn't dream of buying a RT7 and I'm using a RT4 presently and it's my 2nd. I genuinely must be unlucky in having 2 faulty boats from new, 1 blown motor on 1st use and one lights on one side packed uo on 1st use, what are the chances
Lots of reports of cracked plastics screw housings allowing ingress of water on the RT7, design fault for me, and I'd never have a bait boat with subscriptions.

If I but again it'll be a Tolson but may well consider Angling Technics again.

Just to add, my 2nd boat was brand new but due to covid/cancer it was stored for 3 years. CL told me it may be corrosion that created the problem and it was out of warranty (last bit fair enough but it still irks me). It was serviced & fixed last Feb and hasn't been used since, still has less than 200 yards water use.. Will it work if it does get used...hmm. Never gave that a 2nd thought with my AT boats.

Can you even see a bait boat at 300m? I know I’d struggle at 100m but I am old!

Is it just a case of finding a spot with the echo then using GPS to go back to that spot?

Genuinely interested.

Rt7 it's a million miles better than a toslon it's in a different league never had a problem with every RT I have owned in over a decade .Neither have people I know with them .Plenty of people up other company's arses and strange jealous types telling blatant lies about them though .My mate who has a xboat wished he and listened to me and spent a little extra for the RT .Nothing wrong with his boat but even he says it's like something you get free from a rice crispy box in comparison the RT is so much better .That's just him joking the toslon is ok but it's no match for a rt7

Got to be Toslon XBoat at that range for peace of mind - and if not the XR500 / TF750 for better value, fitted with the latest RTK GPS system for 20cm accuracy etc. Two options as far as I'm aware -

Spyder Tech - https://spydertech.uk/
£4.5k with Brushed Motors / 2x 17.5Ah batteries / Nexus Pro Handset with integrated screen (a la Carplounge) Carp Pilot Pro App / TechAdvision Sonar (Blue)

You can make savings on the above by using a standard handset / tablet / downgrading the Sonar or add cost by upgrading to brushless motors etc. Theres also an RTK Pro GPS being launched with a claimed 2-3cms accuracy!

Bait Boat Technology - https://www.facebook.com/groups/250021099486109
Peter Andrew Simmons is the UK guru and will fit the RTK GPS System with their own BBT Autopilot and whatever Sonar you spec, again Techadvision and also Skydroid combined screen Handsets etc. This could be more cost effective if you supply a donor XBoat etc

Not sure but I think both have a 'voice command' interface which means you can hold your rod and scratch your nuts at the same time . . . .I'd also go for something bright in terms of the boat itself (eg White / Lumo Yellow or Orange) to ensure you can see it at distance

Raymarine Dragonfly now discontinued so would go with Techadvision Pulse Blue (Hyper vision & sidescan ie similar to CL Elements) - I'm fitting this to my ND2 so will be able to review once I've got the boat back from the shop in a few weeks . . .

You won't go wrong with the Toslon. Either with the built in Echo/Autopilot (the XR500) or with the XR310 autopilot and get someone to add a Raymarine, that's what I did. Great boats, much prefer mine to my old RT-Sieve.
