I use fox submerge, leadfree stuff. I have around 6ft of leader. Hold the tip up high and slowly lay the leader on top of the weed once you’ve hit the clip, if you’re close enough in to be able to do so that is.

It takes some trial error of course but it’s a great way to have a bait in their face as they pass over weedbeds.

What leader you using mate and how long ? I ideally want to use leadcore but don’t want to use it too long. Like I said we can use a boat so not like your pulling for a break from the bank with a weeded fish.

Have done this a fair bit. I tend to fish as normal with a drop off lead on a heli safe or something similar. Lightest lead possible, you can get the trilobe leads with help as they descend a bit slower. Set your bottom bead as high up as possible and a good bit of Pva foam around the hook. I mesh mine to ensure it comes off, not press it round the hook.

Word of advice, keep an eye out for birdlife, when you’re on top of the weed your hookbaits aren’t deep, you’re susceptible to pickups, swans being the major one.
Fish locked up as the fish will dive in to it so if you can get some high ground it’ll help.

I’ve used chods for a number of years, but never really fished them over deep weed. A lake that I’m fishing in spring is choked with weed. Like maybe 7-8ft of weed over 10/12ft of water. Has anyone ever managed to fish chods over that sort of weed ? I only fish short sessions a night normally so by the time you have found a spot in the weed you’ve ruined the swim. It’s super busy so can’t bait areas either. The Idea is to just stay mobile and fish where they are showing just casting chods at them but want to do it safely. We have the use of a boat to land fish too. Anyone used them for this scenario ? Would you go on a leader long running or naked ? Cheers
