In reply to Post #9 I've got a load of the ACE (think they're call that) de-spoolers and they've got a removable cap to discard line if required. Much shallower angle than the current ones so they're actually 'ok' to respool off however I only have braided mainline stored on mine so doesn't create twist dramas . . .

In reply to Post #7 My own personal experience of using those is they're great for taking line off a spool to throw away but to re use line...not a chance. The loops are all differing sizes and it birds nests like you wouldn't believe, even if you tie the line loops together they'll still get tangled when you try and re spool.
I also prefer the protection a line spool offers the line v tying coils together. I can imagine it'd work with 30 m of fly line as they're often tied, but 100's of meters of main line ..nope...unless they're a way to avoid the tangles

Used a screwdriver wrapped with a bit of masking tape to plug the hole, then inserted into a drill…worked a treat, went on pretty neat too

In reply to Post #4 Empty line spool a Bolt nut and a couple of washers if you have them
Sandwich all together and put in the Chuck of a drill

In reply to Post #1 Just done this on 6 of mine, used a old line spool jammed onto a socket bit on a cordless drill, doddle
Edit, like this, few wraps of insulation tape on a slightly smaller socket bit, unless you can get a tight fit without it. If the receiving spool centre hole is big enough you might get away using a drill bit.

In reply to Post #1 I've known to take a philips screwdriver, wrap masking tape around it so it fits the centre hole in an old line spool and put it in an electric drill.

I need to transfer my fishing line from my reel spool onto a non reel spool…what’s the best way of doing it? Can’t seem to find any videos on this
