I normally use 6-7" , not sure any lo ger gives you any advantage due to the flexibility of braid, appreciate your inputs

How long are the braided links you're using? For a rod length out just slide on a small compressed stick to protect the hook point, feather your cast and jobs a good un! If youre not using solid PVA bags I would er on slightly longer (eg 7"+) to stop a shorter link landing back on itself and the lead . . .

Big inlines and long soft hook links in the margins, my favourite!

Can you place by hand? If not, as mentioned above, a little mesh bag, perhaps with a bit of a foam inside to slow the hook length down once the lead is on the bottom.

Use little solid bags, no tangles with supple braid.

Or just hook on a small mesh bag.

Best to use one just to give a bit more less for the braid to possibly snag on, doubt it'll make a difference to the fish it's all I used to use.

Yes they did, pva wasn't it, brush it on, dries, then dissolves again when cast out.
I never really had any issues when margin fishing with braid. Restrict the line as it hits the water so the braid flips in front, then keep the line light on the drop. Strangers help and I suppose you could loop the braid and tie off with pva if you wanted.

I nearly always used Kryston Merlin, had the other softer one but never really used it. Presently using ESP Anchor, like it a lot but quite thin.

Didn’t Kryston make something that made the braid rigid and then limp again in water??

* that sounds terrible but not going to edit it *

I think you have to almost expect some tangles using braid hooklinks. I always used to only ever fish inlines with 25lb Silkworm hooklinks and no tail rubbers to far margins from 20-70yds. I reckon probably 2 casts in every 10 tangled. If you can use a stringer or small bag, that may help significantly. I personally don’t think tail rubbers will make a lot of difference, to answer your question.

Hi , i'm going to be using a braid hooklink coupled with an inline lead , i'll only be fishing margin spots no more than a rod length out, my query is will a tail rubber be needed to alleviate any tangles or not.
