There will be hardly any difference between the two unless your s range are the 2.5’s. I personally didnt like my 10ft hi s. S range a nicer blank imo but you cant have too many rods so i would just buy them regardless, even more so if they are cheap.

Deep down it’s probably what l was thinking is it worth changing for more 3lb 10 footers,
I do have 12 footers but the main water l on at the moment is a good walk so trying to cut my kit down now with been in my 60s now even with the barrows it’s hard work and with been tree lined and most overhanging the 10 footers are great, and where most are using bigger rods casting to the far margin l’m doing quite well wading out abit flicking my rig in the near margin under the tree line, but sometimes you just can’t get into one of these pegs so then l could do with a few more yards on my cast and find my s range a struggle that’s the reason l was considering the hi s rods. Anyway something for me to think about and thanks for the replies and sorry for waffling on.

If you've got the itch, scratch it otherwise you might regret it
If they don't work out sell them off cheap quickly and carry on using your s range 👍.

I just can't understand why someone would want 10fters that need to cast further.
If you have 3lb 10fters and change for other 3lb 10fters it won't be a massive difference, even if the action is a bit faster.
Why not just get 12ft 3.5lb rods if you need to cover more distance

I’ve been offered a pair of free spirit 10ft hi s rods 3lb t/c which have never been used so are like brand new at a bargain price, l do have some of the 10ft s range rods 3lb t/c at the moment but much admit l’ve always fancied some of the hi s rods so l’m thinking these should cast abit further than my s range 10 footers which are quite soft so limited with casting distance and these shouldn’t be to stiff with only been 3lb test, l will probably get them with been a bargain but thought l’d see what some of you more experienced lads think first.
