Doesnt happen often enough on mine to worry me. If it had a line guard I'd be selling them but I accept the design and really doesn't happen that often and my spools are filled right up. Shimano have really dropped the ball in recent years with line guard system. Utter crap. Ive found that only 100% reliable system is the tournie one. Old design yet srill completely efective. Owned loads of sets over the years ,.not once has line gone under spool. And now they discontinuing them...

yeah i get where you are comming from will check but i think the gap between the spool and bale are is too big.

However could wrap the bottom of the spool in a strip of Self Adhesive Vrelcro to help throw it off, or perhaps add a lip to the base of the spool with a Large size O Ring ..

Ive not checked how it actually starts but i think i just need to stop that first loop

Don't know if this will help or not as I'm not familiar with the basias being a shimano man but year's ago when we used the biomasters we used self adhesive velcro and stuck it onto the bail arm/head brackets (hard to explain wish I could do photos) so a you wound in the spool would just skim the velcro preventing the line from going behind the spool it worked a treat

Re the 3d printing, not sure. Might be worth having a word with Ross at Krakken Tackle if you have any ideas..that reminds me I've forgotten to get back to him about Infinity spool reducers

And that sir is 100% true.

in your least expecting moment the bugger sneaks in unexpectedly much like The Spanish Inquisition (Which as we all know no-one expects !! !! )

Wondered if someone had worked some mastery with a 3D printer or whatever.
Seems not...

Ah well will just have to suck it up me thinks then

Yes its a slack line thing im pretty sure but literally any tiny amount of slack causes it like the little bit of rollback in the reel before it hits the Anti-Reverse

I've got Shimano Aero X 4000s and I swear Paul, the buggers do it deliberately, waiting for the slightest sign of weakness from you, or you looking away, it's infuriating. They have a built in line guard, I reckon it's there as a challenge for the line goblins They're probably getting back at me for converting to single handle

Worse thing still, I use them for feeder fishing, like maggot feeder etc, I spend more time playing with the spool than I do fishing

no twist these reels have been exceptionally good at removing twist typically caused by helicopter rig config.

Keep 1 finger on the rear lip of the spool when there's a slack line, better still don't let the line go slack and don't let the handle reverse when not looking

Pull a few yards off the spool and see if it lies flat or it has twists in it.
You might have line twist that is causing the line to curl behind the spool.

Hi all

As far as i can Tell my Basias don't have a Line Guard this causes the line to go behind the spool at the drop of a hat which becomes somewhat annoying !

In my opinion the reels are not overfilled.

Is there anyone who makes guards on here or is there some kind of workaround to mitigate as it does get me a bit miffed cos they aint cheep..
