Have a look at the avid revolve 10' 3lb £40 ISH and pair with something like a 6000 size okuma ak bait runner.. again around £40.

You wouldn’t go too far wrong with some 9ft sonik xtractors and a half decent set of baitrunner type reels. I’d say a baitrunner probably better for a beginner as they only need to turn the handle to engage the drag, rather than Faffinng ablut with a front drag. Okuma reels would be a good place to start if you don’t want to break the bank, or second hand shimano.

Don’t really have a set budget, obviously don’t want to spend a fortune though. Just looking for a two red set up really but stumped on the rods, he’s only 10 and will probably go a handful of times a year.

Will take a look at those that have been recommended. What’s a good size reel for that age?

What sort of budget are you looking at for rods and reels?
I'd give tackle box a ring, they do loads of rod and reel combo deals on their darent valley brand and will probably give you good advice on options.

My soon to be 10 year old wants his own set up and I have no idea where to begin when it comes to Rod & Reel…..

Having spent a few years tagging along he wants to be able to do it himself, he’s attempted casting/reeling in on the 12ft but clearly it’s too big and the reel is too heavy.

Anyone got a recommendation? Would a 10ft rod and reel combo work? In my head the Nash sawn offs perhaps?

Appreciate the help, birthday and Christmas incoming
