I use the ones you’ve linked, both on my 2600 and a set of my 5000t spools.

I much prefer them over any of the spring loaded clips I’ve tried! I’m gutted they stopped doing them for the tournies, as I would like to do my other spool sets.

Once fitted, I found I could fine tune the pinch on the clip, to suit line diameter, by carefully pushing the outer face in slightly, or levering out with a small flat bladed screwdriver.

You need to wrap the line around the clip the wrong way.
I had the line ping out of the clip a couple of times, not a problem if your doing a long chuck into open water but embarrassing if your aiming at a 50yd far margin

So, dont hook the line under the near side of the clip, but go over the clip, around and back out of the bottom, so you've made a full turn around the clip.
This way the line cannot ping out at all.

Same for me, Gary did mine about 10 years ago (not sure if he is still trading?), and I had to send him the reels to modify them too.

Those Weston line 'stops' are useless, not only do they not grip the line, but on a fast take I tried to slow the spool with my finger, and it nearly sliced the top off of it!

Gary from CustomReels UK did modified my SS2600 and fit the round spring weston line clips a couple of years ago.

The small edge on top of the rotor had to be milled away. Maybe a DIY job with any sort of Dremel tool?

Hi,

I’m desperately looking to upgrade the line clips on my Daiwa SS2600s. Does anybody have experience with these?
https://westondevelopments.com/shop/high-impact-line-stops/line-clip-ss2600/

I would get the spring loaded ones from Weston, but that’s not an option as I can’t get them fitted (my reels are not in the UK - customs etc).

I’ve got the spring loaded ones from Custom Reel King, but find them useless as the spring is too weak and the line slips on the cast.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Wolf
