Your biggest issue is the cheap bit
Since Covid I would say our trips are £300 more than pre Covid
Not sure we could do it now for less than £1200 per angler
Tunnel / ferry 250
Lake 350
Fuel 300 / 400. We are 250 miles from Dover
Tolls 25 / 90 depending where you are going
Bait 200 / 300
Food 150 / 250
Incidentals fishing gear / snacks / etc 100

As you can see it soon adds up
Many years ago I did dream lakes, not for me but I did say if I ever took a grandson it would be perfect
Coach from Dover and food included I think 850 now

Yep there are quite a few cats in there I believe, I know my last 2 trips to the complex I saw a few caught while I was up at the facilities

You might be right on the exclusive booking thing.
Is there cats in there, I’ve no idea.
I’d say it’s far less of circus currently than it has been for some time. Marks running a tight ship.

I know this is against your criteria, but having taken my lad there this year I can't recommend Bounty enough. Yes it has cats in there, but we didn't have any in our week this Easter. Facilities are good, the venue is nice and safe and my son was loaned a bike to get around and back and forth to the showers/toilets etc. Fishing was easy enough and I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the fish. We did catch a few grasses which are not my cup of tea but we're very impressive creatures and I think I've softened my stance a bit now.

I paid for a Dad's and lads ticket, which allowed us to have 4 rods between us which was plenty. I went from Caen so was just over 2 hours but I think it will be nearer 4 from Calais, but I really can't recommend the venue for a dad's and lads trip more highly.

Pretty sure frog is lake exclusive only, making it a not cheap trip like he asked for., plus there are catfish in there. I used to like abbey but it's become far too much of a circus for me now

I’ve just checked and they do, June July august. Get yourself onto frog lake. All the facilities you could possibly want a minute walk from your swim.

Fairly sure Abbey lakes do some sort of dad and lad deal in the summer months.

So my lad is starting to get into carp fishing, and he wants to go to France for a week next year.

What i am looking for is -

No more than 3 hours from Calais.
Good head of carp (almost a runs water).
Some where i can just pay for a swim for us to share, taking it in turns to hit runs on 3 rods.
Good facilities with toilet, good shower and Freezer.

What i dont want is -

More than 3 hours from Calais
Weed, poison chat, cat fish
Solar powered facilities, gas run fridge or compost toilets.

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.
