Had my Solar SS delivered today.
First impressions are, it's massive, great quality with some nice little touches too.
Like the Velcro straps for the legs, a nice touch.
Seems comfy too.
Time will tell on how I get on with it, but it's going to France the end of the month.

Just did my first night in the Solar and here's my review after one night.

It's bigger compared to the Oval, which is to be expected given the shape. I have a Tempest EV 100 so due to the shape, the oval is a better fit naturally. The bed therefore took up more room as it is a monster, I got the standard not wide although coming from the oval it feels like a wide!

It is heavier, as advertised, but picking it up etc you don't really notice it. I have a power barrow so didn't notice any difference. The legs fold out so much better when loading the barrow.

Although bigger, it is shaped better when in the car. The oval has single legs on the top/bottom of the bed and I found this just got in the way.

I am a side sleeper and notoriously get a bad back. Coincidently I pulled my lower back yesterday when climbing a tree so was concerned about sleeping. However, this bed is by far the comfiest I've had, even compared to the Nash indulgence I had years back. My back, although twinging today, is 100% better than it would have been on the oval.

Conclusion, very pleased with it! I was toying between this and the MF60 Nash, obviously I can't compare the two but I won't be in a rush to try!

I'm a side sleeper with the solar, and it's the most comfortable bed I've ever had.

I've not tried the fox one.

I find the Fox R-Series bedchair more comfortable than a Flatliner, albeit not tried the newest one. The Flatliner is also a beast compared to the R-Series (which is why I moved the Flatliner on). I've added details elsewhere on how to pimp the R-Series with custom sized memory foam zipped under the bag. Fleece bag may put some off.

Please do report back - interested to hear what you have to say about the Solar.

So based on your replies i will most likely focus on the Solar and also take a look at the Fox Flatliner X. Hopefully they will have some good offers around Nov-Dec.

I am worried about the weight but at the same time since i`m not from the UK, i don`t use a barrow and i need to load the bed from my garage in the car and then i can reach most fishing pegs around here with a car, so basically i won`t really need to carry it around that much.

I am also a side sleeper and at home i prefer to sleep on a more firm materss. A question then for the Solar SP-C MK2 - is the matress firm or soft? I don`t want it to sag

I've had the flatliner 5 season system for 18 months now, done both long sessions 10 nights, to overnighters and it has been great. Not light but I have a power barrow so weight not really an issue for me. Im 6ft and before losing 5 stone I was 17.5 stone when I first got it and it is comfortable for both fat me and not so fat me. I also have 2 herniated discs and I will say that this bed has been great for me. The removable inner core of the bag is great as it truly is a 5 season bit of kit. I also have the waterproof cover on it all year round

If weight is an issue this bed might not be the one for you as its a heavy beast but apart from that I think it is the best on the market

Side sleeper with a bad back I've had a lot of sleep systems but the Fox flatliner was the best for me (High density foam mattress).

The fox system is the most comfortable for me

Which one are you using, I'm tempted by the Flatliner.

Re the Solar Beds, I've been keeping my eye on second hand ones for over a year as I had decided it was for me, however, I keep seeing beds with what appears to be sagging and being a side sleeper that's not for me.

Had the oval found it very comfortable for my back but I absolutely hated the thing. The narrow bit on the feet it made me feel hemmed in. Then the head end you cant have normal pillow because they over hang and just fall off. Absolute garbage

I had the original solar c tech . Now I have really bad back issues but I'm a side sleeper. Those two things did not go well with the c tech. I'm in agony every time I use it. So much so after 3 sessions, it will never see the light of day again. The new one might be different but if you can go see one in the flesh. The trakker oval though i wouldn't have one even if it was free

The fox system is the most comfortable for me

I've had the Oval for a few years and it is by far the worst bed I've owned. It isn't comfy at all, bad back every time, and I find it doesn't pack down that well either.

Having read reviews of the Solar on here and online, I purchased it. Arrived yesterday and oh my word! It's big, weighs quite a lot but damn it is comfy. Will be using it this Saturday so can report back after a nights sleep but having read others reviews and laid on it at home, I'm confident it will be as good as I think.

The trakker one is huge when folded up,the solar is far better made.I remember I was in a shop when the trakker rep came in with that bed,it is crazy how big it is but its cos of the shape.I was going to have it until saw it,solar beds are the best on the market imo
