I was taught to tie that knot for sea fishing about 45 years ago. However it was not given a name. It's good because it's strong and the tag ends face towards the reel, and don't catch on the eyes when casting.

Yes, makes it more streamlined and goes through the rings better

The mahin knot is similar to an albrite knot
Except the main line has an overhand knot in it rather than folded as in albrite.

Mahin is good as stated, but I now use an FG knot after learning it for lure fishing.
Even thinner/smoother profil as there is no knot in the fluoro => good for thicker 0.50 mm plus leaders if you are using it for abrasion resistance.

PS, this is with braided mainline, wouldn't use an FG with mono.

Had a look at a tutorial on YouTube. Your right it don't look that difficult. Used to tie something simular with a grinner knot down the mainline butting up against the overhand knot.

Mahin knot every time. Plenty of how to tie it videos on YouTube. It is very easy to tie and very reliable.

I've used the double grinner and a small blob of super glue on the knot in the past. Mono/Fluoro mainline to about 5 foot of thicker Fluoro as a leader so doesn't go into the eyes when casting.

Two knots there I'm not to familiar with. I'm only looking to use a maximum of 6ft to pin that last bit to the floor and make it as obscure as possible. I only ever fish Nylon.

If we are talking braided mainline to fluoro leader I use two. If you don’t care about maximum casting distance then a back to back uni is mega strong and easy to tie. I leave the tags about 7mm so they have a bit of flex through the eyes.

For distance with lower diameter braid I use a Mahin. The fluoro tag points backwards the reel so it flies through the rings nicely. Also very strong.

How's everyone attaching theres to there mainline?. Im thinking double grinner or even loop 2 loop. Is there anything better. What kind of length is everyone using also.
