There is a stack of info on this fishery on the net, face ache, utube, including recent visits, catch reports, reviews. That's research isn't it? Well thats what I mean by it.
Nowhere is it described as a runs water.
Your correct in that you never know EXACTLY what your walking into, regarding a french holiday water, but most have plenty of info available, to make any BIG surprises unlikely.

So
What is it you actually want from this ?
IF you are just making people aware then fair enough, IF there is actually something else then you need to get a lawyer involved and take it to court and let the judge decide.

I'm struggling to find why you thought it was a "runs water"? Nowhere does it claim to be, and the numerous catch reports on faceache aren't too dissimilar to your groups results? Your average size was a bit smaller, but these things happen sometimes.

So my frustration isn't at blanking because that has happened before, however I took another friend who started carp angling only 2 years ago as a release from having a non verbal autistic son, this was supposed to be a runs water where he had the chance at a 30 or maybe a 40lb fish, the chances of me hooking a PB where very slim and I accepted that, when you consider that it takes 7 hours to Dover from where we live and we both spent in excess of £1250 each for the trip all I ask is, that information on the website is factual, I personally don't think this is too much to ask, I couldn't care less about myself I had a trip to Bay Lakes in May and caught 9 fish to 46lb infact had 7 40's and 2 high 30's check Facebook for May you'll see it, i also have a trip booked to Vallee lakes in October, which could be tough if the weather and conditions and swim choice don't go my way which again i accept, I simply feel aggrieved that this place was sold to us on a blatant lie.

Its in the fisheries interest to be economic with the truth, would they get more or less bookings if the stock was stated as 200 or 400.
I agree with the op if the owners know there is a stock of 200 then correct the website etc which is clearly mis leading, a Charlatan gains through deception, seems that's what they have done to me.
And as for doing your research before you go what exactly are you going to research, your mate who may or may not have had a good week., catch reports from the owner, the bloke you met who reckons there are x number carp stocked. A question of trust.
A lot of competition for anglers hence creative advertising out there, not many places you know what you are walking into in my opinion.

There's no way I would do a lake booking, without doing some research, and that doesn't mean from the owners website.
I would need info from recent visits, visiting groups.
That said, I can understand your frustration, info on their website is misleading imo.

I knew the 2 owners pretty well and fished it a few times for them after the stockings so they could see what the fish were like, I can't quite remember exactly how many were introduced but it wasn't as high as 400, this was probably nearly 24 years ago now though.. I've not been since so no idea how it has all changed.

It wasn't stocked with 400 fish in 2001, nowhere near that amount, and they weren't up to 55, just over 40 probably, and the original owners didn't actually see what fish were stocked.

Hmmmm..... anyone who's been to France regularly will know there's good weeks and poor weeks. I've fished some lakes which are really Peggy and if you aren't in a going swim, you're gonna struggle.

What I do find odd is you registered on this forum 7 years ago and this seems to be your first post. Have you spoken with the lake owner about your week.... what was his response?

People always assume french lakes are easy.... many are under pressure 24/7 for 9 months of the year.

And don't use words you can't spell properly, it makes you look a little silly.

My personal view is that he's been economical with the truth.

But he hasn't lied or 'mis-sold' anything IMO because he hasn't claimed that the current stock is 400+.

I can understand you're disappointment though & I think you're going to have to suck it up unfortunately.

& Maybe think about retracting some of your statements as I'm not entirely sure that it's fair on the fishery.

It's under new ownership so no they wouldn't necessarily know if they'd had a fish kill. This is why people should properly research venues. It's not like there aren't plenty to choose from

The website is still misleading. It should have a estimated stocking. They know if they've had a fish kill and approximately how many lost. Did they not restock.

Linear tell you an initial stocking and an estimated level. They also restock every year to allow for natural unseen fatalities. Poor owners that don't care or a manager doing whatever.

Let's tell everyone we put 400 in but not tell them we've lost 200 and don't bother about restocking lost fish.
