I always buy "Glass Files" for just touching up hook points etc from the likes of "Superdrug", very cheap and you can buy a set of three or individually or I go to the likes of Boyes and buy a set of Modelling files in the section were they sell paints for modelling etc. Some of the files in the set are very "fine"

They were always like that from years ago. Clearly not changed! I used to use them exclusively until I changed on to ESP.

Has anyone tried the Atomic hooks of late? Very very sharp and hold that for ages, almost to the point of a chemically sharpened Kamasan sea hook!

Sorry to jump on the thread. Has anyone tried and tested the OMC ‘touch me up’ file? Baffles and interests me how pushing the point into something can sharpen it?!

I'm not sure why my link isn't working.

Strangely enough it is today !!
Must of been a glitch in the matrix the other day?

Yes that's the one.

Thanks for sorting that out.

I have one of these. LINKY POO™ https://www.manomano.co.uk/p/4-hand-cut-4-precision-file-13520884?model_id=13520884

Perfect size & shape for me. Easily stashed away. Robust. For the price there's no tears if you have a habit of losing stuff on the bank (like myself)

Black handled Jag file does the job just fine.

A hand file is a parallel file, a pillar has a slow taper at the end.

You need to do some googling to research all the file types so you get the one you want.

I got some flat hand files, 1st cut (fine) from ebay for less than a fiver and they work just fine.

I also have this set of small files. £6.75 for six files.
The small "hand" file that is highlighted also does the job just fine, and you will have some other files for general diy stuff.

Been looking at getting a new hook sharpening file. Seen the vallorbe Swiss file, not sure weather to get the pillar file or hand file? What's the difference between the two? Thanks
