As Beyonce already pointed out, natural ingredients often change colour throughout the year.

The Bug liquid food is also incredibly dark. So if the hook baits he has have elevated levels of the liquid food in they will be darker. It's a good thing.

From the DNA website..

Note on Insect Meal Colour Changes
Due to variations in production processes and the substrate fed to larvae, the colour of insect meal can change throughout the year. This may affect the appearance of products containing insect meal, but rest assured, the quality remains consistent.
