I think it’s jealousy- I had a fantastic couple of weeks and had fish over 80lb, one little blighter caused the gillys all sorts of problem and I got out the hot tub to help at one stage.
People think it’s easy, but knowing what spots to heat up and when, timings on the automatic feeders it was bloody hard work.
Some of the fish we caught were lovely deep pale oldies and the way the genetically modified lips mean easy hooking presents all sorts of problems, magic wand or magic twig. There was also an old skool angler there, casting his rod over his head and using what I can only describe as a catapult to fire something out, proper noddy sleeping under a round tent thing, no hot tub and no barbecue area. He had fish up to low 70s from the dad and lads lake in the end as our lake seemed a bit tough for him.
I say to the doubters try it - with the private chef, 2 x gillys and the photo package it was less than £1k a day - yes the extras can mount up and firing the feeders at 2am certainly isn’t something to do if you are on a budget.
Overall I had 46 x 80s and 7 x 90lb and GutPig at 103lb 2oz it’s weight was down when we had it but fair play to the owners, they took it out the sling straight to the rapid weight gain environment and had it back to us flapping away at over a ton within a few hours.
Great place for the family and it’s also the only UK fishery where you can shoot African Elephants from the bar area.

How many times do we see someone asking about venues with cabins, accommodation, even hot tubs in the venue section?
Fishing is different things to different people. I remember going to Waveney Valley Lakes in the 80's and being disappointed to see even more swims occupied by a caravan every visit, but there was obviously a call for it and made financial sense to the owner.
None of this will kill angling, it might just be the thing that saves it?
Like I said different things for different people.

In reply to Post #17 Don’t worry about it. Whilst ever the British carp record committee are pulling the plug on these false fish it’s perfectly fine for me, we all know what they are. The first time they don’t all the creditability and the history of this pastime has gone and becomes meaningless
Cultivated carp record please, if we really need one, and then some stringent criteria for future record claiims, just draw the line unless there is traceability, to shut the door all of this crap driven by fame seekers and people cashing in on it
The reality is they have an opportunity to make things great again and meaningful, it would also drive future stocking policies throughout the UK

In reply to Post #19 It’s not what I look for when I go fishing but I’m sure it will appeal to the instant carper

In reply to Post #17 You may or may not remember me saying about this sort of thing a while ago
I called it lodge disease ,where by established lakes are ruined by adding lodges etc to the venue looks like the RH version is a super lodge disease ,it's not fishing at all ..
So let's have a look at some venues in the area I know ruined by greed and money
Clawford vineyards
Rettallick lakes
Meadowside lakes
St Tinney Farm
Shillamill lakes
Lodge on Stafford Moor ..
East Rose
Hangar Manor
It all began with Zyg Gregoryk and Anglers paradise ,years ago then Dave Dawe ,at lakeview lodges ...
My memory knows there are loads more, plus now you have app ,goddammit I hate those apps ..
