Stripping the coating has absolutely naff all to do with weakening the link, you haven't applied any thought to this at all have you ?

Don't think I'd even bother stripping back the coating, the boom section of a ronnie meant to be stiff so it kicks away from the lead. You get the movement from the spinner swivel.

All of the ronnies I use have some sort of mono type boom. Currently using Gemini Booms, think they are fluorocarbon.

Stripping back the coating won't impede the strength of the hooklinks for one because the strength is in the woven braid and not the coating!?

I think you're thinking wayyyyy too much into this!
The rig you're using will.be sound. The only thing I don't like about coated braid rigs that aren't stiff is that they can tangle easier but use a mesh ova bag helps counter this.
What you're describing sounds like a really complex combi rig bit with a swivel and not a knot or rig ring.

Hi all

Fishing last weekend on my local club "runs" water.
Packed full of small fish and tearing takes are pretty much a certainty (Also got my ever Koi after hundreds of years fishing. So happy days !!).

Anyway its the first time ive been using Korda SemiStiff link an between fish i got to thinking about rigs.

I was fishing a Ronnie, using SemiStiff with the last few inches stripped back to alow a greater range of movment.

But im not particularly happy with this because.
Striping the link has obviously weakened\affected the overall strength of the hooklink.
When i go to annother water with 20s \ 30s in it this wouldnt leave my mind.

I then thought about :-
Tying a Ring Swivel direct to the Semi-Stiff and then using AN-other hooklink materiel to tie to the end of the Ronnie swivel.
While this would give the extra suppleness in the last couple of inches, to me again this was not ideal as 2 more knots would be introuce to the overall setup and trying to get that last section tied at 2-3 inches only would be really difficult.

And so.. Has anyone one the below (Or Simmilar).

SemiStiff hook link > swivel eye end of ring swivel > Korda Ring Klip (Big Eye end) > Ronnie Swivel ..???
https://kordatackle.com/products/ring-klip

This will keep popup just off the bottom and give almost 360 degrees of movment in all directions.

NB Annother reason i like this is i can use Kordas Tungsten Swivel weights. I HATE putty can never have it stay in one place

Let me know your thoughts, or is my brain just producing more random crap for me to think on. .

For now im calling it "The Interlink Rig"
