In reply to Post #1 How about putting a small piece of shrink tube or micro pole tube over the broken end of the coating to protect it, my Rigmarole tubing has the same thing.
Re the bead slipping on the braid, same as above, and bead on top.

When I use them I slide it from the opposite end to the hook and slide it back down to the hook

You can try using a baiting needle or a loop turner to thread the braid through more gently without pushing and fraying it

In reply to Post #5 I think most of the tungsten/rubber beads I'm currently using were from Tasker, although I've never found one that it doesn't work on.

In reply to Post #4 I did try that - the Kryston ones are made of rubber or something like that so the whole just closes back up.
What brand do you find makes it easier to do this with?

In reply to Post #1 Take a bead off the wire and put a baiting needle through the hole and twist and turn the bead a few times to enlarge the hole.
I've been doing this for years with various different brands.

In reply to Post #2 Yeah I've got plenty of lead core so can give that a try or just stick with split 🙂.
Coated braid is Jackal from Kryston so one of the thinner variants which I'd rather not change

In reply to Post #1 What coated braid are you using? I would always lubricate with spit before pulling it over the braid that might help.
A much better way would be to strip some lead from some leadcore, wrap a small amount tightly round your hook length and use a tiny amount of putty wrapped round it.

I picked up some tungsten beads to replace split shot on my rig and every time I threaded one on it striped back / messed up the outer coating of the coated braid 😬.
Is there a way of doing this so it goes over the coated braid and are any brands better suited to this?
The ones I got to try were the Kryston ones in XL.
