Blowback rig with a rig ring. Size 5 advanced wide gape hook from JP Precision, with a line aligner. ESP tungsten hook link in semi stiff. I also use this for wafters and just vary the length of the hair accordingly

Size 4 Mugga / combi rig with fluro boom or tungsten coated braid / much longer hair with silicone up the shank (prefer this over rig ring) / float stop behind boilie / sometimes use a small noodle kicker / tungsten dropper below small hinge stripped section / tungsten anti tangle sleeve at QC swivel end

Use this for both large bottom baits / double boilie / snowman presentations - usually always chuck out with a PVA stringer necklace with the hookbait nestled within the necklace . . .

Blow back rig for me with a rig ring.

Muggas.
Any braid you like, personally use a heavier one, so ESP Anchor or Nash Armour Link for me.
Ridgemonkey shrink tube.

I am back to using braid only, but had a go at using combi style with a stiff link but found little difference in catch rate so for the sake of needing to tie off some braid to fluoro I sacked it off and went back to braid only.

After years of using so called ‘wide gapes’ hooks, I now use angling iron ‘anchor’ hooks for all my bottom bait fishing, seriously good hook holds. 20lb esp semi stiff braid on all occasions.

Size 5 Nash Chod Twister, 12lb Amnesia tied with a simple knotless knot. That's for 99% of my fishing.

That's about a 10mm gap, the bait is fractionally side on.

Hookholds were OK.

What are everyone’s go to bottom bait rigs for fishing larger (20mm+) bottom baits (not wafters) hard on the deck on a mostly clean lakebed?
Hook patterns/sizes and rig materials used would also be useful, many thanks.
