You wont go wrong with the Gardner Pro Carbon - light as a feather and brilliant bits of kit. Not cheap at around 80 quid.

Agree, the RM is pants... how they managed to get a carbon stick weighing more than plastic I have no idea.

Most of the cheap carbon jobbies (NGT, JRC etc) are all the same 22 mm stick from China with a different badge/grip on, although I see the AD jobbie is available in 25 and 30 mm. All much of a muchness... they do a job.

I know ill probably get slated for this but i have both sizes of carbon stick from Angling Direct and they are perfect. Light & accurate. The smaller one is under £20 at present.

I also have the NGT stick which is very similar & would happily buy them all again.

Ive used my mates Ridgemonkey one & found it far too heavy.

Any recommendations

Tbh I don't think it's as simple as "what's the best throwing stick" anymore. Similar to rods, some are better for accuracy, some better for long range, short range etc etc.

If you just want a stick for all-round work, there are loads of cheapo carbon ones available. Even the plastic jobbies do a job. I can confirm the Harrison stick is the nuts (for accuracy), but I don't consider it great for range.

You need a long, curved, light stick for range. The old Frank Warwick/ACA stick was the best but they're like hens teeth now. Closest thing I've found is the Orient Bombus in 23 mm diameter, 1100 mm length. A real beast, although I wouldn't go near it for shorter range stuff.

There's a few available now that I've not tried... problem is they all advertise dia., but very few advertise length!

Hey mate,

You are right - I bought the Harrison one on ebay, and it is a thing of beauty and extremely accurate for range.

I wanted a stick for bigger baits, and was recommended Chukka, which is equally as brilliant I have to say, and Chris's customer support was superb, buy with confidence from Chris:

I can't remember what sizes, but I've definitely got two of the orange Cobra's in the garage.

Hmm, I don't think so unless they sold on Ebay, can't see them doing that.
I've not seen the cfx or prologic, I'll have a nosey.

Corus one looks the same as the CFX Swift stick and has the same matt finish. The Prologic Carbolite is the same, but in a shiny varnished finish. They all seem to be around the £40 mark. I’d never go back to a plastic or metal stick now.

Did a quick forum search and found Bombus and Orient (more expensive) but I think the post I recollect is pre forum reboot, and the stick was great value for money (comparatively).

Ebay is showing one contender in the Corus throwing stick. Hopefully someone will either confirm it's this one or remember the right one.
