In reply to Post #11 Depends which 1 you get I suppose, I've had 2.
1st one was with Chirp and autopilot, it was easy enough but didn't always connect. I wouldn't call it intuitive like I've heard the RT7 is. I believe the later RT4s with Dragonfly were better but given as far as I'm aware it was the same transmitter box set up, I'm not so sure.
Present RT4 is a BOG standard one towing a Deeper.

In reply to Post #11 Have a look at the Carp Pilot Pro videos on YouTube. My boat has sonar and Raymarine run through the app, it really is an easy to use piece of kit compared to my old RT4 which was far too complicated

In reply to Post #10 Out of interest what's the rt4 like? Seen a virtually brand new one for sale but Heard a few people say it's a bit fidely/complicated to use

In reply to Post #9 Let us know what you decide on
I spoke to Joe about having the Dragonfly Pro (iirc) retrospectively fitted to my RT4, his prices were very reasonable.

In reply to Post #8 Brilliant thank you

You could do with speaking to Jo Jacobs at Bait Boat Solutions. He'll be able to advise you on the best Sonar and which boat to fit it to based on your requirements. He's very friendly and helpful, and might even steer you away from a expensive mistake. He rents boats out and mods/repairs them, probably got more experience than most, you can find him on Facebook

In reply to Post #6 Yes this is bait boat I'm talking about sorry.
A lot of the bait boats i see for sale the sonar looks absolute pants and the difference in price between the standard model to sonar jumps up a hell of a lot. So I may as well save some money and buy myself a really good sonar and get that fitted to the boat

In reply to Post #5 Are you talking a bait boat or row baot
If bait boat there is an arm you can buy to attach your deeper to so you can use the same one
A row boat hmmm
Not sure but could buy a cheap striker and I put the coordinates onto that.
You will also need a decent transducer to get the side view images.

In reply to Post #4 There's also areas out of casting range so I will be relying on the boats sonar to give me an accurate map of the lake. So again using the sonar, finding a spot i like then using the boats autopilot to keep going back to the spot . Again I wasn't sure if the GPS on the sonar is all i needed to mark up my spots so the boat goes to to same spot each time with the autopilot
Sonar wise I'm looking at something with sidescreen so along the lines of raymarine element or something similar. I'm fishing a 60 acre lake, depth up to 50-60ft in places so the side screen is a must for me.
Boat wise still undecided, main thing is the boat will allow the sonar to be fitted etc. But I know some boats you pay extra for GPS some are standard but if it was one I had to pay extra for, do I need it as the sonar has GPS?

In reply to Post #3 No worries mate, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask
If your bait boat has sonar and GPS you don't need another GPS.
I take it you can mark a spot on the GPS and then have the ability to drive back to it?
Which boat is it and with what sonar, there might be other users of your boat on the forum, hence the Q?

In reply to Post #2 Sorry like I said it's probably a stupid question.
So I'll be leading around likely spots and then once I think I've find an area I'll be using the sonar that will be fitted to the boat to see what that comes back with. I would then be using the bait boat to drop my rigs on the area. I was a bit confused if I needed a separate GPS installed on the boat as well as the GPS on the sonar.
If I do need a separate GPS then what would the GPS on the sonar be for ? Probably still not making sense am I haha

In reply to Post #1 I don't quite understand the question, are we talking a inflatable/row boat with sonar and GPS and a separate bait boat? If so, and you can't use the row boats sonar/gps on the bait boat, (Deeper etc) then yes, you will need GPS on the bait boat too if you intend to drop baits using that.
The latest video from Nash/Jacob London Carper has just that, he takes his bait boat out in the row boat and marks the spots on the bait boats GPS.
See here LINKY POO™ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiLk_an28Y8
EDIT, come to think of it, I don't use all the features of the Deeper, I know you can map but drive to spots not so sure, but you get the gist.

This really is going to sound stupid to any experienced bait boat users
If I have sonar that has GPS do I still to get a boat that has GPS to go out to spots i want to fish or can I do it via the sonar?
