In reply to Post #8 Size 8 are too small imo for a Ronnie. I use a size 6 curve or a size 6 krank depending on where I’m fishing. Since I started using it and I’ve caught so many on it it’s always on one rod at least. Just buy another pack of size 6’s and use your 8’s for zigs or floater fishing.

In reply to Post #8 Absolutely or any decent semi stiff hook link.
I'm using a soft fluoro for mine.

In reply to Post #1 IMO a coated braid, stiff mono or a soft fluoro would be good choices over silt & uneven beds.
I agree with the others, size 6 or larger. You could be finding yourself struggling with hook holds. Also, it may be tricky getting the crook through the eye of a size 8.
It's probably not what you want to hear but you can never have too many hooks in your arsenal!

In reply to Post #1 Both cranks and wide gape, size 6 or 4. I wouldn't be using the Ronnie with a soft braid, use a helicopter lead setup and use a stiffer boom material. Will be 10 times more effective

In reply to Post #1 I've always used muggas for my Ronnie's, last 2 sessions I've tried kranks in size 4, I've had 5 real good hook holds on the kranks, an inch back and absolutely nailed...I think I'll continue with the kranks

In reply to Post #1 Size 4 mugga for me.

In reply to Post #2 Same here. MUGGA size 4 & 6. Find the 6 actually having better hook holds. Why I couldn't tell you

In reply to Post #1 I use muggas size 4 and 6.

Hi all looking for a bit of advice.
Fishing the Ronnie,
I just brought Korda Kranks in size 8s and i meant to get 6s
Is an 8 too small for the Ronnie ?
I usually use Korda Kurv in 4 but want to drop hook sizes.
My lakes are generally silty so i have a longer link of 10 inches using a soft braid
