Would like to say it was the rig and the skill of me prepping and presenting on a dustbin at 100yds . . . reality was it was a pub chuck at least a wrap off the baited area (it fell short of the clip) in a storm and I was more bothered about getting back in my bag to keep dry. . .

One was 16mm and the other 14mm wafters.
Glad I scratched the itch, but if I want to waft anything in the future I'll go back to a kd or scr and stick with the multirig.

sounds like your D was too big or the method you used to attach the bait to the D had too much separation?
I have had this happen before but it's only occasional & not like you were having. I would get it when fishing multiple baits (stacks of maize / sweetcorn / multiple tigers). I found it can happen with German rigs too & it's frustrating as fvck. What bait were you using?

never had an issue with the 'Korda IQ D Rig' . . . . but then I don't use Korda IQ!
Prefer to use 15lb Rigmarole CamH20 as its a much more 'workable' fluro . . .paired with a Gardner Mugga the trick is to ensure the whipping knot up the shank is solid and pulled mega tight so it doesn't move and allows the line to exit parallel with the back of the hookshank. I then slip on a micro ring swivel, again ensuring the swivel 'body' is not exposed and pushed into the underside of the bait fully. Simple knotless knot bedded down and ensuring the 'D' is bulbous enough / as required and again opposite the back of the shank and locked into position.
Its a weird rig because the angle the fluro exits the hook eye creates a narrower gape but its also 'aggressive' (whatever that means!) in its angle and seems to work / create problems for some fish . . . .always fished it with a wafter / heavy lead / no movement at the lead end end connection with a tungsten sleeve (either lead clip or cog rig). Caught my UK PB common on this rig so must have some kind of validity . . .

Very rarely had any issues with multi rig and popup. Don't know if same issue would happen if I used a wafter.
I was tempted to try the slip d with the same kind of material I use with a multi rig, but figured I may as well just use the multi rig with boilies/chops around it.
That's certainly what I'll be doing next weekend

Was with Korda iq - the softer one and using a rig swivel.
When I changed to D's out of the back of the hook not whipped onto the shank, it wasn't so bad but still happened once even with PVA bag attached - so maybe nuisance fish moving it around?

Had the same issue with the slip d rig with braid. Hook bait wrapping around the hook. Could use pva or starch nuggets if you can be arsed with the Phaf. Went over to a d rig with fluro for that very reason. Can't understand how a stiffish material like fluro carbon is wrapping around the hook. I've not had an issue. How you attaching the bait? I use a mini rig swivel.

I used to fish with the D rig frequently and found that it does not work well with soft or thin materials. The issue I encountered was similar to what you described or go the other way with stiffer material and it would stick up in the air if it landed on debris. I found that amnesia worked best with this rig in the end

I'm a bit puzzled why this would occur more than with a multi rig? Surely the multi rig is fundamentally just another form of d rig?
Personally it's rare for me to cast out without a stick or foam covering the hook, other than the chod rig sometimes.

Used to use that stuff back when Les was involved with them.
Was good stuff probably still is, but my eyes don't work like they did so really fiddly to get the inner out.
What I'd like is like the original Korda coated braid that had a fluoro outer and plain almost cream coloured braid in the middle.

I've been pretty much the same in my fishing since forever bud.
But I wanted to try a rig with fluoro to the hook and a wafter for a couple of months whilst the weed is low.
I've tried booms and that just didn't look/sit right on the bottom hence a move to D rigs.
Shame someone doesn't do a clear or fluoro coated braid, think that would give me what I was after on the multirig.

I've use pliers to tighten the "shank" knot. Korda Krimp tool is doing the job.
Also might help if you switch to mini swivel (without the O ring) or just O - ring for bait attachment. This will prevent "bait tangling".
