Like an earlier post I used to fish it twice a year when Christine ran it and it was a good lake with a good head of carp in the high 30’s and low 40’s bracket. Shame if it has gone so far downhill.

fished chateau lakes lots up until about 4-5 year ago, the lake was becoming really good lots of 50s 40s Christine the bailiff did a good job of looking after the lake and anglers, she left and the lake declined very quickly, the french do lots of drain downs to remove the silver fish for the restaurants but do not care for the welfare of the carp so most of the big stock went belly up , i was wading around the lake removing big carp belly up all over the place, , Tyram fisheries who ran the trips out to the chateau pulled off the lake probably due to these reasons mentioned ,,catch reports for years after were just doubles and odd 30 here and there, the swims were becoming very untidy bins never emptied no bread delivery for the bakery untidy shower etc etc such a massive shame loved chateau lake we went twice a year every year for a long time , hope one day it gets sorted out and back to how it was, but with constant drain downs and loosing big stock everytime its a loosing battle, be interesting how you get on and what the lake is like these days hopefully fingers crossed its changed , who is taking the bookings these days ?

What a blast from the past !
I last fished here around 25 years ago at the same time our own Ken Townley used to Royal Box fish the place !

Of no use to you today but, if you were up in the woods it was pretty much long range work, if you were on the island it was short range, Royal Box if I remember was the only swim at the time at the bottom of the owners garden on far bank.

Pretty featureless and bait was the feature so, we used to bait quite heavily and wait for them to move onto it which, didn't take long.

Fished the lake 7/8 years ago, back on again in early May, any tips on bait/ going tactics would be appreciated.
Cheers
