I didn’t mind paying the £18 to much as theory it was going to to be a lot more, but as it was not totally my fault, yes I should have checked but I did tell the lady at the checkout I had fuel so I think it we where both at fault,

How do you feel about the £18 charge?
Personally I think as you were at fault £18 is worth paying for peace of mind.

I bought 30 quids worth of fuel last year,...paid by card ..no.problem I thought til a week later I got a letter from the said garage saying I'd not paid ,including a colour printed picture of me plus in fishing attire ,handing over my card for payment ...

So I went to the garage and asked why, did I get the photo and letter and could prove I'd paid ,madness ,world's gone mad ..what a waste of time ,and five mins of head scratching..

Crime of the century ,....!

This probably isn’t a lot of help to you but I did this many years ago in a company van that had decals on it so I clearly wasn’t intending to do it, but anyway for some inexplicable reason I filled up, jumped in the van immediately after and drove off, I think I was deep in thought and just completely forgot to pay, I’ve never done it before then and never done it again, the reason I say it’s probably not of much help to you is because for some reason the next day the thought occurred to me that I had just gotten in the van and driven off, it was in SE London and after calling the station in somewhat of a panic I paid over the phone, the chap told me it had been reported to the police and gave me the name and number of the officer he’d spoken to, I called him straight away and explained to him what had happened and that I had now paid for my fuel, he was very understanding and helpful and told me no further action would be taken, it is apparently a very common crime and with cloned plates and stolen vehicles probably more common than we think. I think in your case, the fact that you paid for something but not the fuel should help your case but usually when you pay for shopping in a fuel station they always ask if you have had any fuel, did they not ask you that? You should try and contact the company dealing with it straight away and explain in detail what happened and of course offer to pay, good luck and I hope you get a good result

I'd also print a record off of your previous fuel purchases from that station to show your a regular customer who always pays and I'd be speaking to the store manager.

Maybe just me but I'd expect the station to contact you 1st regards payment before sending it to a third party. I'd also be asking them for their GDPR re passing on your details.

Find out who this company is.
Send them a letter explaining the situation and send it signed for is all I can think of.
Maybe someone has a better idea

Your front door will be put through early one morning, lots of banging and shouting as you're dragged from your bed.
You might want to hide a mobile up your bum if you want to post on here after the above.

Cheerio and good luck 👍

I went into a Sainsbury’s last Sunday that I always get my diesel from, never had a problem there, anyway I also got some redex cleaner, I went to the till as normal to pay for the fuel and redex I payed buy contacless payment, but as I didn’t pay attention it was not until yesterday when I went to get more fuel thay said I couldn’t have any as I’d not payed for the last lot I had. It was only £15 and I generally didn’t no oil didn’t pay as thirty I pay for both at same time, so I ended up driving of not thinking about it, anyway apparently its now gone to another company to be sorted and out of Sainsbury’s hands has this happened to any of you guys ? And what to expect ?
