There are lots of good forums and Facebook pages which are all great for up to date information.
https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/
No doubt in the Uk there are some regional differences in what programs are rolled out.
I
Type 2 unfortunately as we get older we move less eat more and some build up insulin resistance.

In reply to Post #1 Thanks for this I'll mention this to my diabetic specialist in a few weeks, I was diagnosed Feb 2020 type 2 at 15st10lb.
I wasn't aware about this option, I currently weigh circa 12.6 first thing in the morning (depends if I've had a poo though), they said ideally I should be between 10/11st and I haven't been that since I was about 18 years old and I'm fast approaching my 54th birthday, early November they put me on the Mounjaro jab for a bit more weight loss and they also said it was good for the conditioning of the heart and liver function.
I haven't had a day since that I feel physically sick it gets worse after everything I eat the nausea is awful, the diabetic specialist calls every month as they start with 2.5 dose and up it by 2.5 every month I've currently just started the 7.5 dose and the nausea feeling is getting more intense not enjoying it at all, next phonecall in a few weeks I was going to ask them to stop prescribing it, I'm back in a 32inch waist in jeans with a bit of room to spare, I'll ask about this option.

In reply to Post #3 I’m unsure 🧐 my doctors knew nothing about it at all.
I had to print off proof from the internet and show them .

In reply to Post #1 Saw this on the news, why aren't doctors promoting it?

In reply to Post #1 Well done
Sounds like a good weight loss programme for those who are not diabetic but are overweight.

I just wanted to make fellow diabetics aware of NHS. Sponsored Diabetics remission program .
It has transformed my life , it’s a program of 16 weeks of total dietary replacement meals consisting of porridge , soups and shakes which are 200 calories per meal .
For 12 weeks you have 4x TDR = 800 calories a day.
From week 13 you drop a shake and a healthy meal is introduced and so after another 6 weeks your back to three healthy meals a day.
You receive face to face or teams meetings with your mentor , mine is a nutritionist.
You are sent all the TDR meals, weighing scales , Blood glucose monitor , blood pressure cuff and monitor intact all you will need.
So I have no lost 5 stone , gone from a 40 inch waist to 34inches, blood pressure has stopped considerably and will no longer need the medication .
My diabetic blood test show that I am in remission and in 6 months time if they carry on I will no longer be a diabetic and need medication.
I’m 53 years old and joined the local running club and loving life.
This post was just to make fellow diabetics aware of the program as local GP’S are not promoting it.
If you want any info just Google or contact me , it’s really transformed my life.
65-70% of people who complete the course have their diabetics go into remission .
It takes some dedication but worth it.
Cheers
Codger
