In reply to Post #11 I have done something similar...
When tying a braid to braid shockleader using a mahin knot I found that some very thin, mainline braids were a bit slippy and hard to get tight.
As I put pressure on the knot the mainline and shockleader would pull tight and a bit of the mainline braid would pull through under strong slow pressure.
I then added a single overhand knot in the mainline braid about 1cm from the knot, and some extra pressure would pull this knot up against the main knot and prevent any further slippage.
This is 100% reliable.

In reply to Post #11 Haha, I did the same with my allbright, last week!

In reply to Post #10 watched a vid on a variation of the FG knot (Briggsy - Australian Sal****ert angler) today & he ties a single clinch knot in his tag ends against the main knot to give him confidence against slippage. not something I had thought of this thread & will give it a go when I'm next tieing up some rigs.

In reply to Post #9 Thanks, will look into that too!

I've been using the inner of the TA coated hooklinks for the braid section of my combi links - like you, I like a blob for a confidence thing in case of slipping & I have found they blob ok with a lighter

In reply to Post #6 Hi Bob, if you say it works, I know it will work. Will look into that!

In reply to Post #5 I looked at supernatural, but it's thin indeed. Thanks for the mention!

In reply to Post #3 I always use black nail varnish on all my albright knots and often on the wipping on the hook. Not for the reason you are but I think it would probably have the effect you desire.
It has no effect on the number of pick ups that I can discern.

In reply to Post #1 Supernatural Blobs - bit thin though.

In reply to Post #1 Maybe just make your D using a multi rig, works for me.

In reply to Post #2 I am really not a fan of superglue near my bait. Just a confidence thing. But thanks for thinking along with me!

In reply to Post #1 Would a dab of superglue not have the same effect? Could mean you can stick to your preferred hook link material.

Hi guys,
I am tieing a variation of the slip d rig, but with a twist. I a fixing the hook on the braid with a normal no knot, whereby I tuck the loose end of double braid part for de d, underneath the no knot. With some pressure, I can pull the d apart, because that loose braid end slips underneath that no knot. I have tried bobbing the braids with a lighter, but both Nash Armourlink and Korda Dark Matter braid doesn't blob with a lighter. It just splits the fibres. Also, when tieing an allbright knot to a thick mono, it gives me confidence to blob the part of the braid that comes out of the knot.
Do you know some braids that are reliable, round and can be blobbed with a lighter?
Thanks!
