In reply to Post #20 If this is true, and I stand to be corrected, But I seem to remember reading, or listening to something JB said, that out of respect to Rod he would never copy the original formula/recipe for Scopex nowadays, try to make a close copy, but not the ORIGINAL..
Obviously, some of the ingredients may not be allowed, or available in 2026 to do so.

In reply to Post #19 I hope John does know more about Scopex than anyone else as he formulated the original flavour for Hutchy.

In reply to Post #13 ask John Baker about Scopex, he knows more about it's original makeup than anyone - and that includes Rod Hutchinson............

In reply to Post #13 I don't think anything really smells like RH scopex, there are scopex flavours and 'the scopex'.
The bottles I have are at the very least 23 years old, not the tall bottle with white lid, the shorter 50ml one with light blue label and 6 eggs on the side.
I think even then there were cries of 'its not the same'
I had a waft only last week, hmm hmm hmm
It's been 14 or 15 years since I happened by Johnson Ross, perhaps time has dulled the memory,
I stopped smoking in 2013..nothing has smelled the same (or had the lack of smell) since..
I bought Plum, Crab, Banana, Pineapple, Frost & Flood and a talin sweetener, this for sure because I still have the remnants of all but F&F.
Must have been just before JB changed over to the aluminum bottles and upped the prices.

In reply to Post #14 John's Milky1 has always been the better flavour than Toppex for me.

In reply to Post #13 Correct. To my nose it’s nothing like the original scopex

In reply to Post #12 I’m liking AA Baits’ Banoffee as an alternative to Caramel Toffee & Pear of Bananas 😋😉

In reply to Post #13 I’ve not seen or smelled Toppex, just remember seeing another thread on the subject a while back.

Toppex nothing like the RH scopex.
Try BAF version. Very very close.

to be honest and I'm going back over 20 years I found two pineapple pop-ups had the best aroma and caught well.
The original Dynamite FW fluoro pop-up with booster. Crap pop-up but a catcher.
Plenty of N-butyric?
And Mainline, but as I remember between 2002 and 2004-5 the colour changed, the buoyancy changed and the pineapple was defintely muted.
Really didn't change up to the point where i stopped carp fishing 2014/14 and no longer felt the obligation to take a sniff of any tub on the shelf.
Anyhow I think I have an older bottle of pineapple in my stash about 20ml- red label, oval bottle. I'll have a root around and perhaps that is another one for the single egg mix.
Again been a few years but the last time I checked out a few pineapple flavours I settled on JB.
And jhhilton has given the reason why I can't find it any more.
Scopex. Yes Toppex is a very nice scopex. £25 for 100ml aint tho..
Was about as close as I could compare it to a 15+ year old bottle of RH.
I see Caramel Banana, who am I to say if it's close to Top Banana but his banana EA wasn't quite on par with Solar.
Premier baits scopex wasn't bad, ok in a bulk bait with cream stim.
Don't appear to list either anymore

In reply to Post #6 General consensus of best Scopex available currently, is John Baker’s Toppex iirc.
