In reply to Post #13 Going from Northern Specials to handcraft was a game changer for me. Sting or squid.

I don't believe you can beat the CC Moore Northern Specials. Seem to work everywhere for me especially when plugged and coated in Fructose powder

It's funny how different it is for all of us.
I'm an avid and long term Baitworks user, love their bottom baits, yet can't buy a bite on the Scent From Hell.
My chosen pop-ups are SHB S2's, by a fair way, but recently I've had a little bit of success on the Carp Freaks pop ups by CC Moore. I used these as I won some in a competition and had run out of 13mm S2's, but they done me well.

Scent from Hell, nothing like it. As a poster below has said, Id much rather there was a more pleasant smelling alternative - but it such a proven catcher.

In reply to Post #6 I use tungsten weights (but from TT UK not ESP) and I find the 12mm from Handcraft balances well on my hinge stiff rigs

In reply to Post #1 The world's your Lobster when it comes to specialised pop up company's these days. They all produce baits that will catch you fish. From of the shelf numbers to custom rolls. Here are just a few that I know about.
Koda pops.
Specialized hookbaits.
Opti baits
Stoglemans
Silty pig hookbaits.
Jason hayward.
Just avoid the temptation to buy " just one more pot " as most of them will sit in tackle bags or on shelfs as glorified air freshners. You will just end up confusing the he'll out of yourself. Stick with one or two and you will be fine.

In reply to Post #6 No experience of ESP tungsten weights but even the 12mm require putty with a size 4 thinking anglers curve hook to hold them down on a ronnie so youll have no issues with the 14mm holding up a 4

In reply to Post #5 To be honest I am looking at the HH sting and squids are the 14mm to buoyant for Ronnie's ?
Will be using the esp tungsten large balance beads and size 4 hooks?

In reply to Post #1 Handcraft sting wafter has been the one for me the last few winters and will be my go to this year when I manage to get out

I’ve tried most of the hookbait companies that get mentioned on here, guilty of getting sucked in by magic hookbaits when the going’s tough! I always end up having to go back to the Scent from Hells. I wish a nice inoffensive smelling bait would out fish the SFH but I just get more bites on them.
One thing I will say is they have improved the buoyancy but the latest batch had a slightly different smell to me. Might be me and I’m still catching on them.

Hi all as we are coming into the colder months I like to use high attract singles and have been using the generic popups from the usual bait company's, I've decided to look at company's that specialise in hook baits only and don't mind paying £20 a tub for something a bit better than your standard generic hookbaits from the usual bait company's. What's your recommendations? Many thanks for your time
Gareth
