Does jason have his own website for ordering hooks?

In reply to Post #28 Jason,
What do you find to be the best Chod hooks?
I keep flitting between types.

The hook is one of, if not the most critical items we use. The Rolls Royce of hooks (Jason’s) are still relatively inexpensive.
I’ve seen people recommend cheap hooks from the likes of Bank so gave them a try. They’re rubbish, inconsistent points with at least 1/3 being dull.
A few extra quid is a no brainier for me.
To the OP, I also rate JP hooks, only sharpened in one plane but this gives the opportunity to touch up the sides when the point dulls. Decent range of patterns, really like their straight point chod hook.
Like Yonny I found IB hooks overdone. Some were very sharp but taken to a point where too much material had been taken off. This was a good few years ago now though.
I’ve found Jason’s to be the most consistent. I used his long shanks for a good while but now use his sharpened ESP Trig Hammers as I prefer the pattern.

In reply to Post #33 Ive recently this year started using Jasons hand sharpened hooks, mainly mugga, and have found them to be excellent.i deffo have had more fish on the bank and put it down to more pick ups turning into runs, for a couple of quid per packet extra is deffo worth the extra.

I always use Gardner muggas sharpened by Jason. Never let me down since I moved onto them

In reply to Post #31 Always remember someone saying about Rod Hutchinson. If he paid as much attention to the quality of his end tackle as he did to his bait. His catches would of been of this planet...
Those you've mentioned having the sharpest of hooks on the end of there line wouldn't of been top of there priority list. Would it of effected there catch rate, probably.. would they of cared? .... probably not..
I for one have a JAG file and eye loop. Bought of the back of Jason's envolvement with JAG at the time. Tried it a few times. Couldn't get them any sharper than the hooks already were. Both file and loop are sitting in a box somewhere in me garage. Doubt they will see the light of day any time soon.
Playing the percentage game. A sharp a hook as you can possibly use will in my opinion catch you more fish. I suppose it comes down to how much you want it. And how much effort your willing to put in.
I for one am happy with me ESP hammers. One of the many out the packet sharp hooks out there. Lovely long slim point. But wouldn't be adverse to having a go with a hand Sharpened one. If the likes of Jason does them. Will have to have a look in the Tacklebox at Dartford next time I'm down that way.

In reply to Post #30 Well done, it took real skill and guile. Must be your sharp hook.
What you have to consider is that some people take fishing a bit too seriously. In fact, waaaaaaaay too seriously. Glad I obviously left an impression 😘
I once had the pleasure of fishing in between Rod, Mally, Bob Baker and Albert. Some of the finest fishing minds there ever were. And if you think blunt hooks were ridiculous, you would have been shocked by some of the theories flying around, but it may have been the red…… 😂

In reply to Post #16 Didn't take much time or effort to flush you out did it ?
So you do use blunt hooks then, thus going against the entire ethos of a fishing hook ?
After all, if you've tried it and can vouch for its success.....
@jamie now, I don't know what your mate was doing, but if he caught, it suggests to me, he was using sharp hooks, not blunt ones.
I think it's safe to say that blunt hooks don't catch many fish and the fad will never catch on, you don't need much in the way of cognitive ability to know that without going down the route of experimentation.
But some will still argue.

Thank you for your kind words guys! 🙏
Just trying to be helpful, but if it’s taken as spamming or advertising then please delete this post!
For you lads asking about Wide gapes there is 3 on the market that are outstanding, I’m mainly talking about size 4’s here (the biggest sellers) and I’m talking about when sharpened of course!
In NO particular order though….
1. My own Wide gapers. (Yes I would say that!)
2. Korda Wide gape X
3. ESP Claw Hammer.
They are all extremely trustworthy patterns and have been described as “evil and brutal” by some of customers.
The ESP is probably the strongest out the 3 but is also the heaviest and we don’t all need a mega strong/heavy hook.
Any questions you have, ping me an email and I’ll get back to you when I can!
You pay ya money and take your choice!

In reply to Post #26 I've tried the Ultra-Sharp Wide Gapers and the Grippa's, both for zigs. Both decent.
He'll do any brand/pattern you want if you send them over, or there's a few widely available from the shops (Johnson Ross do the TA and Korda wide gape patterns).

In reply to Post #25 I would like an answer to this as well, I would happy switch to Jason's or another company if I knew they were recommended.
J. Precision sold out all the time

My favourite hook pattern is a widegape has anyone any experience of widegape patterns sharpened by jason or jasons own widegape pattern?
I have used a lot of the j precision widegapes in size 4 but they are often out of stock so looking for a good alternative?
