i use Korda wide gape X with good results. the fish find a D rig with a wide gape tricky to discharge

Depends on the material. I use wide gapes with braid and chod hooks with fluro. I find the hook sits far too aggressively with an inturned eye and fluro, it also adds an unnecessary stress point where the line exits the hook.

Longshank pattern works well with the original D-Rig.

I use the mugga for the flouro d rig, the way the hook sits naturally sits very aggressively.

I use a chod hook with stiffer material and a wide gape for the softer stuff .

Something with an out turned eye, like a chod hook or Drennan continental boilie hook would be my choice.

I’m not sure on the pattern I’m using but I feel I need to be using something with a wider gape
