Surely if that's the case, and you can prove purchase, Fox have a obligation to sort it out, it's not the buyers fault OP were taken over.

I believe once a company gets taken over thats it as its not the new owners fault as they had nothing to do with the sale.

If you buy something over 100£ then use a credit card. you are covered with better back up from the credit card company as they are jointly liable even if the company goes out of business.
Just pay it off the same day so you don’t get any interest charges.

Power pack in warranty bought from outlaw pro - box serial numbers etc. but tough luck as you need to send back to retailer.

Or delkim type service - always repair their products even if it’s your fault and no I don’t mind paying.

Apple will repair or replace items no matter where purchased again sometimes for a price but proper service.

I too have been using fox alarms for 30+ years, only ever had one issue with one where the batteries would drain when switched off. Just took the batteries out after packing up.

I can never understand Carp Anglers angle on this, if you bought a Sony TV from Curry’s and it went faulty would you contact Sony directly or take it back to Currys (I.e. the retailer)?

This comes up on this forum time after time and peoples nose is always put out of joint by it, it’s not unreasonable for the manufacturer to say take it back to where you purchased the item.

As for 2nd hand items, that part of the risk of buying anything used, there isn’t a warranty once the original purchaser moves the item on.

If you buy second hand you expect the warranty to be transferred to you...?

If someone buys as a gift the 'contract' is with retailer and buyer.

Really not trying to be funny, but I really dont see why you think this is 'shocking?

The power pack...within warranty?

Its second hand! Unfortunately some people will always be unlucky and get issues at some point even if they are rare. I think fox are the only alarms that ive never had any issues with and ive had a few sets now over 30 years of angling.

Poxy Fox alarms - one of mine had given up and because I bought them second hand assume Dal is only place to go.

Was a delkim user for years and never any trouble but fox are jank and given they always say take it to retailer means you can’t ever buy them as a gift or buy second hand - absolutely shocking - this is fresh on the back of a £180 power pack giving up.

Sorry just realised clover mentioned the warranty. I bought some second hand. Sent to dal because sensitivity was off on one, new wheel fitted. 2nd had an issue where only beeped 1 or twice when alarm was turned off I.e the theft function. Also fixed by Dal. The alarms do have their issues but ok right now since dal inspected them.

Lower in this thread i reported 2 of a 3 rod set of fox rx pluses died after 6 months. These were replaced with new by the retailer. On Sunday whilst fishing the third original died for no apparent reason. Dry session etc.
New batteries were fitted a week earlier in all alarms and receiver and all good.
The receiver gave a few alarm bleeps after 10 hours of use. The alarm was dead, tried new batteries. Nothing. Fortunately it is still just within the 2 year warranty by 5 months, so thats returned to the shop under warranty and i am currently borrowing a mates spare alarm.
Disappointing to have all 3 fail within 2 years.
