Monster hemp isn't Chinese either. I believe it French. Seed size is smaller but the consistency of batches is good. I've found Chinese hemp to be very hit and miss. The small seed size resembles tiny water snails too.

Last got hemp from my guy in April,21 , mate. It was still $60 for a 50lb sack... Sure more now☹️

Where i get mine now. I like Haiths but its just way too expensive. The local feed shops sacks of hemp just seem to be mostly dust and chopped up blue bailer twine.

Monster particles, dry hemp is £35 for 20k which is reasonable and its good hemp splits very well. There is postage on top but i normally order a sack of maples or groats etc with it and its 7.50p post.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Back in the 90's there was a farmer near Machester Airport who used to keep birds, think they were more aviary type, but he also had said chalk board and more mixes than I'd ever even heard off.
At the end he even stocked or could get anything you asked for...sadly he then turned the farm into a Car Park for the airport!

The last firm I used/use now is BJF Feeds in Yorkshire, some chaps on Newhay Lake over there put me onto them, I've mentioned them on here a few times. They also do said myriad of mixes, I would doubt anyone would be using one if you chose 1 at random

EDIT, There's a small farm shop near Tacklesaver in Handforth near where I lived and the chap there will get anything you want, no chalk board though as in his words 'prices change to much'...so he had a secret print out with them on instead

I used to put in a order of say £100, go to collect and pay and he'd stick a tenner back in my hand and say 'good lad'...wish more places would be like that!

I kid you not, when I went round, he had an enormous barn and it was packed with everything in sacks stacked high on pallets, these large 1 ton bags that you get gravel and sand in etc, and then he had loads of his products bagged up in kilo bags etc like a normal dealer, and there was a long line of these large tubs with two handles you can buy full of mixed particles and each one was different individual pigeon and bird fanciers etc, it was like finding paradise. And he walked me round showing me everything he had stocked.

His price list was just a chalkboard on the wall and never had a printed one to hand out as the prices were always changing with new stock. He told me that I was the first person he had had wanting things for fishing as all his trade was for the avarian. But, his place was in the middle of nowhere down a long country lane and no sign up etc, it just looked like a normal farm.

I actually ended up with a sack of maples they was that cheap. And as I was loading the car up, our lass started moaning about how long I had been, obviously, she has never found "Eldorado", Women just don't understand how a few pulses and seeds can turn a carp angler on.

I cannot, he was only shopping himself and overhead what I had asked for at the counter and just happened to leave as I was leaving, so I do not have the faintest who it was as it was just an anonymous random meeting.

Even, the land developers who took over the farm to turn it into a caravan park do not know what happened to him and neither no longer does his phone number work on his business card and I cannot even find him doing a google search or even trying to find a small family run pigeon feed supplier other than the well know ones.

I had it all sorted with my particles, especially with the likes of maize, maples and hemp about 3 years ago. I had found particle paradise.

The story went briefly, I was trying to track some maples down, and could not find anywhere that sold them local. One day, I walked out of an animal feed, farming style business, when as I got to my car, a man who had been in the warehouse came to me and said he had overheard me asking for maples and said he had a friend who may have some and did I want him to give he a call, I replied "Yes" and he rung him, he then said to me, "How many do you want, he has 20 ton of them", I just said "about 5 kilo's".

To cut the story short, I raced to this person small farm and found that he supplied pigeon food to racing pigeon breeders / racers and he had a warehouse packed with everything you could imagine and made up pigeon feeds to the breeders own personal requirements.

But, it was the price that he was charging, it was way below anywhere else I had seen, it was about a £1 for two kilos of hemp, £3 a sack of maize, £8 a sack of maples. I ended up with a boot full of sacks of various particles.

Sadly though, with no warning, he sold his farm and vanished and I have been unable to track him down to see if he just moved his business, or perhaps he passed away. I cannot even find any body else who runs a similar business.

I bought a plastic tub of prepared Dynamite particles when I ran out of my home prepared pigeon conditioner mid session. The tub I got was horrible, a thick lump of fat congealed with particles in, in the middle of the tub. I had to break it down by hand and pour boiling water over it to be able to use them. This was in summer time, so the oil from the particles should not have solidified.

It is far better to prepare pigeon conditioner and hemp at home than turn up and be forced to use what could well be absolute rubbish.
At least with my own particles, be it hemp, pigeon conditioner or maize, I know they are fresh, and properly prepared.

I have noticed the price of hemp has rocketed over the past few years. I think last sack I paid £38 for, and that was Mega Hemp, a whole £1 more than standard hemp. The quality has gone down as well; more dust and twigs in the sack now than 5 years ago.

I get my hemp from Baden Feed and Supply, ON , Canada, via a local NC distributor.
It works fine, agree with you, Mark.
Maples and Pigeon Feed too😎

It's obvious to me mate, quite clearly you are just a tight noddy and in denial

What a load of rubbish they're talking, if I had some dry maples I'd prove it, but I guess they'd still deny it.
Of the cuff I'd say all particles swell to at least double their size/weight, some like Maples even more.

Copdock Mill 25kg Maples £17.99 Double their weight so 50kg wet ish, that's 36p/kg prepped plus a little for gas/electricity.

Well known particle site, 10kg Maples prepped £17.99, P&P £7.49, Total £25.48

10kg cost home made £3.60 plus say 36p for electricity (3kw/hr @12p/kwhr) call it £4

My figures can be way out and it still wouldn't be close. I do buy in when I can't be arsed, doesn't mean I'm under the illusion it's about the same cost as making my own, each to their own.
