In reply to Post #29 Are the vortex air guides ok? Probably won't change rods for while if I get them and worried about durability...thanks

In reply to Post #22 I would say they need a 4oz lead for distance but 150+ achievable. A lot of rod builders agree the 12'6 is the sweet spot in the range.

In reply to Post #27 Be fair the Ebay ones aren't far off and it's his actual eBay shop selling them so may just have to buy them:-). Full shrink and fuji reel seats. Only down side is the vortex air guides but I don't use braid so should be ok for my purposes

In reply to Post #26 Give Calvin a call mate, he is a good guy. The number is on the website.
He built me a set of 12'6 Aviator Plus about 5 years ago. They were £1200 , so you may be able to get the exact build you want for not much more than the eBay price.

In reply to Post #25 Thanks 1100 for the set. Seems reasonable to me.

In reply to Post #24 Not sure its the tc in 12' Plus (3lb 6oz) vs 12' Plus 2 (3lb 8oz) or the tip / tip speed - I ditched my 12's for 13's but 12' 6" could also be your sweet spot . . . .

In reply to Post #23 Maybe the plus 12ft plus 2 is a better option then. However calvin hancock has a set of the 12ft 6 aviator plus on Ebay that I quite like the look of.. could be a good balance

In reply to Post #1 10' Aviators in 3.25 - brilliant all rounders
12' Aviator Plus - Great to play fish on / crap to cast at range (IMO)
13' Aviator Plus - Great to play fish on / good to cast / excellent solid bag/semi range rods

In reply to Post #21 I'm a fairly decent caster, what sort of distances can you achieve with these, say a 3oz lead

In reply to Post #19 I have the 12'6" aviators and they have a beautiful action but still retain distance potential. Not had the 12' s so cannot compare but 12'6" will definitely deliver what you want.

In reply to Post #19 Ive got the 12ft plus 3 (3.75), they are great rods and are a nice playing action. I would think the plus 2's would be spot on playing and chucking them distances.

In reply to Post #18 Reigniting this thread. Via Johnson ross I am looking at the aviators raven edition with normal reel seat. Torn between the 12ft 6 plus version 3.5lb or the 12ft plus 2 . I'd like a rod with a good playing action but also can put a lead 120+ fairly easily. Thanks

In reply to Post #17 I have a set of plus 2s in 12ft they are lovely rods , perfect all rounders. I am really happy with them, been using them for a year now.

Has anyone got a set of the 'plus 2's'?. Interested to hear any feedback think the 3.5lb would suit me better than the 3lb 6oz plus.

In reply to Post #1 I have a set of Aviator + in 13'. These replaced 12.6 Torrix TE
They were built by Vic Gibson with cork handles and Fuji titanium K series, in one word the blanks and build is SUPERB.
The TE's had 50mm Minimas which I didn't like. The Fuji's are in a different league { and price ! } but casting is better with more control and accuracy and the Fuji's start with 40mm butt ring.
The rods are very good in the margins with enough sensitivity and excel at medium to long range with power in reserve for weedy / snaggy waters with big fish.
Be 100% confident with these
Hope this helps
Chris
