Just realised I said peg 2 in error, meant to say 7 produced the most. Yes we all caught, but it was quite obvious the fish do move up and down the lake, first part of the week the South bay had all the action then the fish moved into the north bay where the lads began catching.

Thanks - that’s really helpful! Did all the swims your group fished do fish?

Just done a week there myself with our group of 6. We found the weed was the main issue, there are spots to fish to but we found fishing the far margins to be less weed prone and that’s where our bites came from. Looking at the swim map on the website peg 2 seemed to produce the most action fishing 3 or 4 rod lengths short of the far margin, but watch those margin snags. Overall depths were 4-5ft in the north end bay, 6-9ft south end bay. Be prepared to use the boats also as most of fish needed to be freed from weed once hooked - it really is very dense! Bait? We caught on the house coco cream boilies in the main but maize picked up fish too. The central cabin is great for the social, it has everything you’ll need but remember to take uk plug adaptors and a couple of 4 gang sockets. In all we enjoyed our trip - tight lines!!

Has anyone been to la traque recently? I’m going in a couple of weeks and just wondering on swim choices, any particular swims doing more bites, and any tips on tactics? I will always fish how I am confident but any insider info would be gratefully received

I did two weeks from mid October and it was fairly slow although only 2 of us fishing it (others dropped out). We fished opposite ends and tried to cover as much water as possible but most fish came from only a couple of spots.

Talking to Pascale and Maxime it seems it was slow for at least a few weeks before we got there and they indicated the whole year has been down on catch numbers compared to past. I believe they are talking to people as to what to do and are planning adding some stock to try and get the fish competing a bit more.

My group (5 anglers) fished it in July this year just after the French lockdown, we found it hard going, with the fish not really switching on. The group caught 14 fish to mid forties, swims 1 and the pump swim caught the most, no fish seen to the right of the pump swim, and me in swim 8 blanked, as did a mate in peg 2. we lost 6 fish in the weed, swims 2 & 3 lost 3 each, however the weed shouldn't be a problem in March.
As for the water levels, the lake should be full in March with depths averaging 6 - 7 feet. In the summer they pump water onto the crops around the lake, so the level does drop, during our week it went down nearly a foot, and the pump noisy at night. Apart from the slow fishing, the lake and lodge facilities are great, and Pascale, Phil and Maxime can't do enough during your weeks fishing.

Yep we fished it twice 2011 and 2013 from memory...
End pegs deffo do more fish...
I was in peg 1 for last trip had 17 fish to 58 plus... Next nearest was 5 fish

Prob don't want more than 5 on your trip as you can then leave a swim free between you all more or less.

been 3 times peg 1 long haul on left with back to cabin twice did around 80% of the fish .Last time we went the opposite end did a few as well but we were advised end pegs before we went.Going back a few years and things do change but i believe peg 1 is still the flyer.

Hi guys
Thinking of an early season trip to La Traque. Any feedback on the lake based on 6 anglers? Is it peggy or a fair venue. Any feedback would be welcome.
