I’d you can find the schematic of a Biomaster 8000 GT it’s pretty much identical to the Aerlex 8000 GT just the Aerlex has plastic washers where the Biomaster has bearings. I might still have it I’ll try and dig it out later

In reply to Post #6 I did a post years ago with step by step photo instructions on how to upgrade the Aerlex GT. I’ll see if it’s still here…
Edit: sadly I think it’s gone. From memory there are three bushes that can be replaced with bearings. I think either side of reel handle and main drive. Makes the reel a Biomaster mechanically, apart from the bail handle trip which I don’t think we want anyway. It’s a very cheap upgrade and well worth doing.
Not sure if mods could retrieve the old post…

In reply to Post #7 I'm not particularly mechanically minded so to speak and thought it might be a little more involved, thank you for your answer.

In reply to Post #6 I replaced the plastic bush/spacers in my shimano aerlex spod reel.
It's as simple as popping the plastic out and popping the bearing in.

In reply to Post #2 Hi, Just found this post and wondered if you had any details on upgrading/adding bearings to these reels, thank you in advance.

In reply to Post #4 Sorry Iain only just seen this.
Long time mate, hope you're well.
I literally just popped the small washer off with some needle pliers, changed the clip and pushed the small washer on again. Took all of 2 mins. Think I ended up with 5 clips so good to go a few more times yet

In reply to Post #3 Did you ever swap this clip in the end Cam?
I've just done this on my old 8000GT, used a pair of strong side cutters to snip the silver starlock washer and then bent it out so it came off the little metal post, popped the new clip in and popped on a new starlock washer.
I have a couple of spare line clips, £3 each posted.

Yeah it's them I found on the bay.
Line Clips
Question still stands though, is it an easy job to replace them?

In reply to Post #1 Felindre sell the clips on eBay. 9.45 for 5.
I bought some as back up for the same reels which I use as main reels on less secure waters. Never actually changed a clip yet though.
Still great reels to this day, especially if you add bearings. Only let down by slow retrieve imo, but then so are some modern reels eg ISO.
Or you can get the clip upgraded to metal by Garry at Custom Reels

Maybe a long shot or possibly all line clips are the same but has anyone replaced a line clip on a Shimano GT 8000 Aerlex Titanos?
Thought I'd go and do some baiting up today and whilst doing so the line clip has snapped off whilst spodding.
Is it a case of just popping the silver bits off, sliding new clip in (can get 5 for £10 on the bay) and then popping the silver bits back on?
I'm very good at funkin things like this up so just after advice.
(Didn't realise what these reels are now worth whilst doing a search for clips on the bay!).
TIA
