In one way or another you get what you pay for, what one rod will offer in distance it will lack in another department - not responsive when playing a fish or being heavy. Some will come apart after a season or two where cheaply built won’t last.
Having had lots of sets of rods over the years, I would say from experience get a rod that suits your needs - be it distance requirements, buy price or quality.
Jeff built me a set of rods recently, stunning finish and simply just quality. I am confident they will last for 20yrs as I look after my kit, and they will give me 10 x the pleasure in using them for what I paid for them (same as off the shelf price for exactly how I wanted them personally).
Very seldom does a more expensive rod catch you more fish unless for specific circumstances like fishing at extreme distances, fish with the rods you have got until you can save to buy the rods you desire if that’s what you want out of it all.
Most of all enjoy yourself 👍

In reply to Post #20 I think what your saying is that the bubble has burst this £400 to £500 a rod is absolutely ridiculous the same as most of carp fishing tackle this £1000.00 for a bivvy I think a lot of people feel it’s a rip off I’ve heard loads of people on here saying
So if other companies are making decent tackle a lot cheaper then good luck to them it’s about time the others had a big wake up
I see a hoodie for £100 there treating us as idiots

In reply to Post #12 Ok when did you last try to sell some high end rods then.
My Daiwa infinitys which are mint and cost me a bargain 400 quid each have been on tackletrader for months and aren't selling.
Could be that they are sh*te (which they aren't)
Could be that the country as a whole is bolloxed and no one has any money to spend.
Or it may be that you can buy way cheaper rods now with slightly less performance.
I bet if you ask a retailer how many bargain bucket rods they sell compared to Harrison... Free spirit etc it'll be 100 to 1.

In reply to Post #13 Any particular reason or are you just a rod snob?
I think they make decent rods for the price personally.

Well someone is buying them. I was in a tackle shop today, and was told they are selling well.

In reply to Post #10 I think sonik eg xtractors or insurgent have there place cheap enough to leave in boot of car so not to worried if they get nicked or good as a Holliday rod river lake or even sea fishing
But not in the same world as free spirit or Harrison and others
And as for the Korda green there’s a reason there cheap
