We worked pretty hard to find the right levels of certain flavours
We can always add more with that mix but I’m always worried of being too strong!

Scent from hell is crab isn’t it?
Due to its makeup that will stink! We will be working with some right stinky things this summer but as stated below, too much of certain things are bad!
Tiger nuts……..they don’t smell of anything at all
Sweetcorn no smell at all
I’m really into fishmeal based pop ups and Wafters this year already. The low level attraction and natural pulling power of the core ingredients can be the one when the stinky pineapples are blown. I think we all need to work out which way is best on each water. One last little thing, if you really wanted to pep up a hookbait for whatever reason there is no problem bringing out some little boosters shots like the other brands do. For those who need it it’s an option
Squid goo is popular 😉

I'd run with that

I will say this though, the venue I'm fishing hasn't got a lot in it and it's big, so a bait that pongs for me on the phycological front and this time of year could help out, the opposite as I've suggested on smaller waters with a bigger head of fish plus angling pressure could more than likely be detrimental. I totally take your points on board

I like the handcraft stuff specifically because it isnt overpowering

You cant detect soluble amino acids, they can.

I think it was john baker who said that a dogs sense of smell is hundreds of times as sensitive as ours and a carps is hundreds of times more sensitive than a dogs. I know it isnt quite that simple but imagine scent from hell but times a thousand?

Next time you find a bloodworm or a water snail, crack it open in give it a sniff. I bet you cant really smell it, but the carp can detect it before it has been broken with no issue

A baits smell catches the angler far more than the fish

Yeah, it was something that it noticed last weekend. I did crack one open and found that there was smell still in the bait, but compared to a rod with The Scent from Hell, the difference was night and day. I didn't crack open the Scent from Hell as it was as minging as it went out; can't remember if I dosed the Baitworks pop up with smell, like glug them months back.

It's one of those things, I mean like, some places where the fish are very nervous around highly pongy baits, they could easily spook, and a bait that doesn't waft loads can be a good thing, also, using corn in free offerings, the colour is bang on and can hide the hookbiat very well.

I don't know, maybe later on in the year a hookbait that doesn't scream "eat me" is the one, just that i'd rather a hookbait that does the opposite this time of the year.

the (in my opinion) four most potent carp attractors going are actually subtle as hell, alas, many others not lol

Completely agree, carp can find minute traces of food in parts per million of water so our nose is almost useless. But carp anglers want things to stink whereas I want things to be attractive after 24 hours but not repellant. Gary Bayes calls them carp scarers 😂😂😂
The trick here is powders and liquids, a combo of both that “smell” and “taste” is the best of both worlds for me.
Eaton mess is subtle, squid subtle, krill and cal also subtle but they have lots going inside them.
I also like the fact that you guys can cover them in whatever you want and they still work perfectly.
Rock hard pop ups with no ingress is not for me

I’ve said the same on the bait groups, to me “smells the same as when it went out “ isn’t a plus point!

See we do agree on things lol

im surprised by that but can i ask if you took the pop up off and cracked it in half to see what the inside smelt and tasted like? surely you want all of those nice things to be leaking out in the water column rather than locked inside. You will notice that all of our hookbaits are liquid hungry and they absorb anything you put on them.......... lake water will also be taken on to a degree. good news is that the catch reports on sting suggest the carp have no trouble finding them!
probably my favourite pop up of all time

I find the Sting smell lasts a night, after that...zero smell. Not seen how long the smell takes to leak out on an hour to hour basis; will check.
