That’s what I was hoping for, mine really take some crushing up, first time I used them I came home to check the bag to see if it said freezer bait, reminded me of a 90s shelf life, well that’s probably an exaggeration, they’re not literal marbles but they take some crushing in your fingers

I definitely wouldn’t be buying a bait based on whether it’s a pound cheaper than something else. In my opinion you should make your selection based on what’s in the bait and if a good one is a pound a kilo more expensive then so be it.

I tried to change baits this year, not out of cost but purely boredom and fear of missing out.
I’ve pretty much used the same bait for 6 years plus, the occasional tweak as I know the roller.
It didn’t go well. I know the bait I went onto was good, taste smell, reputation- but after 3 non spectacular sessions, I couldn’t resist taking a kilo of my old bait and had a brilliant day. I really don’t believe it was the bait (it was winter) but the baby Jesus playing with my confidence.

I’ve just come back from a UK week long trip, using the old favourite and used about 5 kilos of bait, 15kg pellets, 7 cans of corn (the smaller cans) and some chopped worms (1kg).

What I’m saying is that sometimes you are better staying with confidence and using cheaper pellet or corn to bulk up.

Sorry I probably should have mentioned in my OP it would need to be shelf life.
I can get Sticky from my LTS for £8 a kilo too which is reasonable. All of the suggestions are great, thanks.

The freshwater shrimp is an amazing bait.

Strange as I find them to be almost too soft for the ridgemonkey boilie crusher they turn into paste between the chopping fins.

Just seen Oxford carp baits are offering 10% off currently as well.
Brilliant baits and Tom Stokes don’t half catch some fish on it 👌

I found bug disappointingly hard, not a slight on its catching ability as it catches loads, but I prefer a softer bait.
