I've read his wiki page as I wasn't aware of his work.

Interesting stuff I'll have to check the book out.

It does make you wonder if they could be here to help or guide us.

It reminds me of the "Fukoshima Lights" where several UAP's were spotted in the area before, during & after the disaster. There were also eye witness reports of UAP's sending beams of light to the site & an immediate reduction radioactivity.

If there's any Netflix users here that are interested. I recommend watching a thought provoking documentary "Encounters: episode 4". It's a good watch whether you believe or not. The Japanese are so spiritual & open minded in this regard, I found it fascinating.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I've already listened to a couple of chapters today.

"If there is intelligent life out there they should throw a big envelope around earth to prevent humans from contaminating the rest of space with junk, or worse...humans."

Funny you should say that as there's been reports of spacecrafts etc. interfered with by unknown entities. There's also been many reports of nuclear weapons being intercepted & neutralised by UAP's. There's a famous case at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana back in 1967. Then there were nuclear ICBM's stored with launching capability during the cold war. They reported a red glowing light hovering over the base which disabled the weapons systems for a short time & then disappeared. It's a well documented case & backed up by an air force captain.

I do have the same opinions as yourself regarding the Human race.

We really do need an intervention IMO!

I've not read that book, you've piqued my interest
I can see humans going extinct on this planet, you only have to look at that famous quote about consuming of resources (which I can't find). I wouldn't put it beyond humanity to send fertilised eggs into space when push comes to shove, far easier than sending humans....why am I thinking alien films...hmm.
The fact we think it's o.k to crash things into the moon rather than repatriate them to earth, send ships on 1 way missions to the edge of the galaxy on the pretence of learning while littering the far reaches of space, that should say everything another species needs to know.

And then there's the idea of mining other planets, stripping them of their resources, quite a few films based on that theory only with earth as the target.

Come to think of it I don't know what's worse, the idea of humans actually meeting another species or them introducing religion to them.

It’s funny that because since I skip read the book, the 12th planet, which I found hard going, it kind of opened my eyes and often makes me think why we are here and about life after death etc.

Maybe your theory could be correct and we are no more than a growing bunch of parasites that’s flourished on a planet that we call earth? We will eventually destroy ourselves…

Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away…

Controversial but extremely different and thought provoking, when the 12th planet comes round again we will find out

Humans, intelligent life forms....my arse.
The guy from the matrix got it right, more like a virus!
Breeding out of control heading for the inevitable, the only option, spread into space when (not if) this world is exhausted.

If there is intelligent life out there they should throw a big envelope around earth to prevent humans from contaminating the rest of space with junk, or worse...humans.

In the meantime you'll be worked and fleeced to death in the pretence your EV will make a jot of difference while developing economies repeat the mistakes we've already made on a grander scale.

Personally I think the microplastics will sort humans out 1st, we'll see.

I thought I'd try to resurrect the thread as I find it interesting.

I'm a believer.

Recently (ish) the terminology has been changed to UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena). It's a more modern & accurate description, as it's now not only limited to air, but also underwater. It also has the added bonus of helping to reduce the stigma that was attached to UFO - flying saucers, little green men etc.

It makes me laugh a little inside when I hear people saying that they don't believe in aliens & we're the only intelligent life forms in the universe. The milky way has an estimated 100+ billion planets - & that's a very very modest estimate, as there's likely many many more. Obviously not all of these would be habitable or in the "goldilocks zone". If we said for arguments sake that out of those 100 billion 0.001% are in the zone and able to support life (as WE know it), then that would be 1,000,000 planets just in our galaxy. There's an estimated 200+ billion (again likely many many more) galaxies in the universe, so do the math. I think it's absolutely insane to think that we're the only ones!

The problem is distance.

The Milky Way is 2 million light years approx in diameter. That means if we wanted to travel that distance, it would take us 2 million years travelling at the speed of light (671,000,000 mph) & that's just our galaxy! The numbers are, well, incomprehensible & hopeless for us at this time with stone age rockets burning fuel..

Presuming they're travelling the long distances regularly (& not hiding somewhere nearby) they must be able to control/distort space time somehow. Shortening the distance or maybe something like moving space around the ship, rather than the ship moving itself. The universe is approx 14 billion years old so there could be races that are 100's of thousands, or even millions of years more technologically advanced than us!

I personally think they're probably already here or nearby, & have been for a long time. I also believe this disclosure trend is slowly preparing us for the truth.

Me and a mate were satellitte spotting one night whilst fishing and this appeared in the sky. Needless to say, we were opened mouthed and couldn't believe what we were seeing. Turns out it's Elon Musk's starlink of about 20 satellittes in a line but it was pretty impressive.
