Is anyone powering a barrow using one of the Loungebox batteries? I have a Loungebox Compact which is 30ah @ 24v that should hopefully be suitable but I wonder if I should just go for a kit complete with batteries anyway.
How are people finding the batteries that come with some of these kits, and any suggestions of different batteries than the ones in the kits?

In reply to Post #29 I got them to change the connectors on mine as I couldn't pull them plastic ones apart, especially if the arthritis was kicking in.
The metal ones are perfect, strong and so easy to take apart.
Glad I spoke to them about my issues

Morning all.
The chaps from Carpy Cartz were good enough to drop off my conversion last weekend. My initial thoughts are its well put together and pulls like a train, I cant imagine how much gear youd need to be carrying to require a full throttle press.
Because I dont have a standard wheel off carp porter, like a MK2 or a fat boy, ive decided to make a couple of alterations to my frame. Once ive done it then I will post up a few pictures or if I can then I will link to a youtube video. Basically ive got one of the dreadful Mk4 barrows with the suspension springs in the forks and the folding frame where the wheel stays attached. But my springs are knackered and one side is compressed and the other side isnt, which makes for an uneven ride. Not an issue when pushing manually but seeing as Ive spent money to make my push easier it seems a bit daft to put up with it. So ive bought a couple of lengths of box section and im gonna remove the springs and convert to solid forks. This isnt a reflection on the Carpy Cartz kits, its specific to my barrow. Anyone with a std barrow would just slide the wheel on as normal.
If I get a chance I will get this done at the weekend and post up some more info. What I would say is that when I bought the kit, I didnt buy the battery bag. I stupidly thought id just put the batteries in the carp porter centre bag, but of course I hadnt considered what happens if its raining. So for now I have put the battery and controller in a bait bucket. But anyone considering getting a kit from anywhere id say get the proper waterproof bag, which Im now gonna have to order. lesson learnt. dont be a tight arsed git.

In reply to Post #30 think your confused sunshine I have never ever said that
I have never ever used an Aliexpress kit ?
I have said they are AVAILABLE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE use them with great success I started researching them around 2017 AND the 3 ready made kits and 4 years of reading all the forums and facebook pages and speaking to a fair few people that I knew either directly or through friends I had a very good idea what to buy to replace my Powerer porter I sold years before
but they of course need a certain amount of DIY work and fabrication and anyone that has a brain would simply go on the facebook page DEDICATED to converting barrows to electric to read of the success and horror stories mainly fuses blowing and speed controllers burning out but in the last year or so seems people are sorting them to be fair
imagine if the motor does have a problem and you bought it direct from china !
but if your saving around £200 on a click and plug kit that takes around 30 mins a child could fit
and have UK support and backup its important to get the best for your money and ANYONE who knows me on this forum knows I try and help people get the best buy for their hard earned
SO just get your facts right !

Good God Gerry give it a rest ! One minute your telling the forum that they mainly use kits from "Ali express" then the next breath they use the best parts available .Your constant your opinion is always the best gets verrrrrrrrrrrrry boring .

In reply to Post #28 GLOBAL have optional connectors for that people who like to not just wheel it in the back of the van and want a more metal robust connector a simple phone call to a company that values its customers and picks the phone up !
and no mine is not the only opinion but I dont GOBB OFF saying things are facts when they are just an opinion either !!
as Stated all THREE COMPANYS make good conversion kits Global Angling and Carpy Cartz and BCUK
BUT !
There can only be one Highlander best company IMHO

In reply to Post #25 But your opinion always seems to be the only one.
You stated Global ere the better company, have you actually had both barrows side by side?
This weekend I was on my syndicate and saw both side by side, the electrical connectors on my barrow conversions kit are a lot better and more robust that the Global.
There’s a reason why one has kits ready to dispatch and the other has a 8-12 week lead time.
I placed an order this morning, Global was cheaper and could be delivered within a week, as I’ve seen both barrows side by side I opted for the more quality made kit with the longer lead time.

I think Global are a cult - and I am fully signed up.
I wanted recommendations and friends and social said global - 10 mins on the phone to them tells you what a quality company you are dealing with no sales just answers to queries.
The others may be good - but I now know around 7 or 8 that have global and not one moan - and if they did they would be comfortable with sharing it directly not over social media. Proper old school quality product - old school as in pick up the phone

In reply to Post #24 well its a bit obvious to me at least
? if they have been building and selling kits for 10 years they would of learnt whats good and bad and whats reliable
or they would of been out of business by now
so I guess we will agree to disagree

In reply to Post #23 Mmmm
your are of course entitled your OPINION as THATS all it is
as I am
and my Global and my pals that made me buy it is of the very best is top quality
Im quite sure BOTH Carpy Cartz and BarrowConversions make good kits but I will stick with the company that delivers a product with instant support if and when needed with no broken promises etc

Gerry - Just because a company has been going for 10 years (with no competition for most)doesn't mean they have a better product .

In reply to Post #21 Your wrong there Gerry .
The components on the Barrow Conversion are alot better than the ones supplied by Global.
The only dis advantage I’d the lead time with Barrow Conversions which is around 8-12 weeks.

In reply to Post #21 Thanks for clearing that up, I had since asking the question found a few negative comments regarding delivery times and customer service.
I've also contacted Global reference a couple of questions for my particular barrow.
Thanks 👍🏻

In reply to Post #20 OK since you asked
for a start Global Angling started it over 10 years ago !!
so clearly they have learnt over the years the best parts to use also the delivery times are only a couple of weeks you get INSTANT support if you need it and no broken promises and they dont ignore their customers
there are a couple of copy company`s Carpy Carz and BCUK Global dont need to have lots of adverts they sell on Reputation and can DELIVER quality goods with unrivaled support

In reply to Post #19 Cheers for the link, I had looked after seeing other mentioning them.
Can I ask why you say they are better? I have no experience with either company so merely curiosity, BCUK stuff does look the part from what I'm seeing online, they are going to be at the Northern Carp show this weekend and I considered going just to see their work in person.
