In reply to Post #53 Yep - I have received the 0.32mm 12lb and 0.38mm 15lb so can confirm that the diameters as per the Facebook post I linked earlier are what is coming out to shops.

12lb is .32 in the new released line

In reply to Post #51 Will wait & see what arrives in the shops, if it's not .32/.33mm will be moving on to a different line.

In reply to Post #49 I spooled up with 15lb of the technium vs GT HD and was quite shocked at the outcome. The technium is just wiry vs the GT HD which is very limp with no stiffness at all
That sums up pretty much my thoughts, I'm not sure what I was expecting but I almost thought there was something wrong with it.
Perhaps Shimano have just started to put the true breaking strain on the spools?
Not from what James is saying, very odd.

As we all know, most lines are well underrated. The only one I can remember that gave an accurate rating was Daiwa Infinity Duo, it used to state that it was IGFA (?) rated on the spool.
There really should be an industry standard method for measuring bs of lines.

We have a 0.35mm minimum b/s on my syndicate. I spooled up with 15lb of the technium vs GT HD and was quite shocked at the outcome.

I know I'm getting old (50) but it's quite bizarre to me that these companies think the only way to inform is the likes of social media, in fact just for that reason I may just see my arse (even if it's super skinny now)

In reply to Post #45 Ignore everything and buy by diameter only (0.32mm/0.33mm = 12lb)
|

In reply to Post #45 The website has always been bizzare - the UK diameters were never listed from what I can remember. I believe the EU breaking strains was listed as linear strength whilst the UK was knot strength.
I got it from a shop they listed as receiving the new stuff the day it arrived - mine were the 0.32/0.38mm for 12lb/15lb respectively as per that Facebook post.

In reply to Post #43 I'm totally bloody confused now
The Johnson Ross site doen't say anything about any Euro Line, and when I was in Daves they said the new stuff is on the system but the stuff they received doesn't match it.
Surely to god someone on here works in a tackle shop and can tell us definitively, or someone who wants to ask them on Faceache.
TBQH, if it's the same diameter, conversation over for me, back to Sensor

In reply to Post #43 Oh right crossed line somewhere then Just waiting for stock to arrive now.

In reply to Post #38 These aren't the 'new' release stats - that is the older euro rated line as stated. The website hasn't been updated with the new product yet.
Not sure if the Facebook link will work but the specs of the re/new release are here; https://www.facebook.com/share/p/6SneAj8ZzAk9q7xk/

In reply to Post #41 I always go by diameter, there's been so much messing with breaking strains & diameter in the past "our 15lb is super strong & breaks at 18lb"...yeah cos its 0.40 dia & that would have been 20lb in the old days.

|
In reply to Post #38 They look like the old euro rated lines there used to be a 0.35mm version and 0.4 version available in europe, i certainly wouldnt be convinced by the stated breaking strains of the "newer" version

In reply to Post #39 Yes, a huge drop, from 0.38 to 0.285 in the case of the 15lb. I don't like the 0.38 but I'd probably try the 0.305, still a big drop and stronger to boot, just hope the abraision resitstance is as good, guess only time will tell but I can't imagine Shimano dropping the ball.
