I'm not mate, i just hope the 12/0.32 is a bit more to my liking compared to the 15/0.38. My only interest in the new was if it was thinner at the same breaking strain which appears not to be the case. The age of a shop bought spool doesn't bother me either, as long as it's not a window/display spool.

honestly, i wouldnt worry about it being old or new ... I have bought loads of spools of 0.33mm dia (black - tinned and boxed versions) since early 2000s and regardless of the conspiracy theories of some, it all feels and behaved as the same stuff in my experience.

I think it is the old - believe that they were selling it prior to the release of the 'new stuff'. Although I'm still somewhat confused as to whether the new release is the same as the original or the second generation which I believe had the same diameters and packaging as this.

If you're confused I don't stand a bloody chance

According to the Shimano FB Post g4fne quoted earlier it's just a relaunch of the old stuff so exactly the same as the old stuff from Bobco just near £20 odd quid more, but who knows

Just bumping this as I had a reply from Bobco re the £5 spools of 12lb Technium (£5.29 delivered) they've got listed on Ebay, . They've said the 12lb listed is the black, not the Invisitec as shown in the main pic but as shown in the description.

That's a bargain in my book even if I end up using it as bean netting

12lb (0.33mm) is indeed a different animal to 15lb .... Much nicer to use.
I have never found an occasion that the I needed to heavier than 12lb

Very interesting given the increased breaking strain well over 12lb with the right knot taken as a given

Does it sink well,I'm very tempted try this line on my spare spools
The 15 sinks very well, I can only imagine the 12lb doing the same, albeit slightly slower.

I don’t think I mentioned the technium was in there, just a comment about line reviews. Just had a look at a few I have, Catana was the only Shimano line, not that it matters, I used it once, didn’t really get on with it in 15lb, but that’s all I ever use.

Synchro XT for me, brilliant line
